One way to learn about copywriting.

Recently their has been a few threads created in this section from 3 people claiming to be copywriters. Notice the join dates for all these new posters are from 2016 each one is pretending to be experts in the field. They are nothing but general writers that lack the understanding of basic copy. Now this is not to put all new members down, because a few new posters on the forum actually know what they are doing. One is even a long term member who changed accounts recently.

So if you want to get an idea what good copy writing is about please take the time to go into the sticky section and read the information there. You will have a better understanding what copywriting is and not the articles being posted by these new posters.

Another suggestion about the posters who are here. Notice the people who called out the new posters and pointed out the flaws in these long posts. If you click on their profile and spend a little time you can get the posting history of these members. Please read some of the threads they created or contributed to. You will realize that some of them help built this section into a great place. They have actual real experience in copywriting and are not pretending to be great copywriters

Final thoughts - I hope this helps one person so they wont be misguided and spend a lifetime of frustration or stuck in content mills. Also if you have any questions after following these steps, Im sure one of the veterans can point you in the right direction.

Be you day one, or your first year...or even longer...

The fastest way to copywriting success is to start selling something with your own words. 14 days. Create something to sell (you're a wordsmith, write a hotsheet, a brief report, a folio, booklet, pamphlet, map, guide, cheet sheet, directions, instructions) and then

    sell it, or try to.

Use a free website if need be. WRITE a promotion to sell something then try to generate traffic, many of you are already using your sig file here to take us to an affiliate offer. Use it to show us your promotion and keep some stats and alter until you sell it, then drive more traffic, perhaps via one of the many advertising vehicles out there.

But WRITE to sell something. If you can't create, then acquire, plenty of cheap PLR right here at WF.

But the sooner you start selling something and learning from either the lack of sales or feedback, the faster your journey to freedom happens.

OR you post 500 times here, get nothing for it, advance your career in reverse, do as you please, but if you want to make money as a copywriter, the more you sell, the more you get hired.

    Gordon,

    That's excellent advice.

I just came back from a 3-day copywriting conference and was shocked at how many participants seem to feel they need years of study before they can really "get started."

The upshot is that they end up not doing much, or anything, with what they are learning.

The alternative is to get started right away applying what you are learning, either by following Gordon's suggestion or by writing copy for friends, family or volunteers. When I mentor people, I get them doing this within weeks, not years.

It doesn't mean people know everything they need to know within weeks. Rather, they can know enough to be of genuine service to themselves or to others. And then can then continue learning as they earn.

The sad thing is your post is already being buried by more article spam. I refuse to even engage with those anymore.

Seems they are on a mission here to turn this section into a dump for articles to achieve some agenda. It will not improve but hurt the quality of this forum IMHO

    The die is cast folks.

And trying to change it is like spitting in the wind.

    Get over it.

Yes. ^^^^ FL knows what it wants. It is paying for what it wants this to be.

This is all by design, has a bigger purpose, and we each get to either accept it or keep on. We all get to spend our time how we want.

So many other places to talk copy. So little time to do it.

I think the world of writers will be the same as it was in the past, very few wannabe writers will actually make a decent or substantial living from doing it. For every successful writer, like Marcia Yudkin with over 15 books published, there will be 1001 Neshas, who will never make it.

Chill and relax, and enjoy the show.
Reframe this place as Entertainment, it beats most sitcoms on TV.

Congrats to all who write and post. YOU are a writer!!!

Get over it. - Nothing to get over this placed died a long time ago.

Yet a few challenges to some of the junk writers seems to frustrate them. The game is set when they can't compete with the true pro's here.

Pointing a newbie in the right direction to follow the pro writer's here and not the phony's may prevent one or two Nesha's from being created.

  • A moment of silence to reflect...

...a copy writer wrote the sales copy

    ...that convinced the masses

they should become a content writer...

live their life...on their terms...for pennies a day

    Direct Response Copy Writing???

...hmmm wonder if it still works?

If you can move people to a desired action with words, you're a copywriter. If you can do it consistently, you're a good one. If you can do it against their will or change their minds, you're a great one.
