Questions for Copywriters

I want to know when each of you decided to be a copywriter and why. Was it when you were younger? Fresh out of high school? Did it happen when you stumbled upon a job?

What is your favorite copywriting book?

Also, I'd like to know if you find your work gratifying. Do you enjoy it? Do you look forward to it? Or are you simple doing it for the money?

I never knew about copywriting until a guy I worked with online told me to look into it.

I was actually a full-time solo ad vendor for 2+ years, so during that time I've already learned how to write subject headlines and body copy to make the reader click.

I read up about copywriting here and there, picked up a few stuff, but never bothered to go into full copywriting mode!

It was when I was helping the guy write some stuff and he told me that my writing was really engaging and entertaining.. so I thought, hey, let's give this a shot.

I signed up for courses like AWAI, Copyhour, CopyChief, bought all the bread-and-butter copywriting books and BAM now I'm writing copy.

    Books like:

The Copywriting Adweek Handbook - Joe Sugarman
The Ultimate Sales Letter - Dan Kennedy
The Robert Collier Letter Book - Robert Collier
    Scientific Advertising - Claude Hopkins
Ogilvy on Advertising - David Ogilvy
and many others! I spent every single day reading something about copy.

I really enjoy writing. I don't know why but I just love typing on my keyboard for some reason. Personally, the way my brain works is weird. I seem to convey my thoughts far more easier when I type than when I talk in person.

My ex actually said that I don't really communicate well in person, but during texting and stuff, I get really interesting. So.... she's my ex now. lol!

Of course I do it for money, someone needs to pay the darn bills! But really, I just love writing. I'm also a songwriter, lyricist and I write poems when I have the time.

    Heh, that's all from me!

    Cheers!
