As a Copywriter, would you work on an election campaign?

I know the rules. No politics on this forum. That's understandable.

I just wanted to ask, would you accept to work as a copywriter on a political or election campaign? Would you treat this situation as a regular one, as if you're working with a regular client, or this would be something special for you? Some kind of a special treatment, I guess.

Again, I have no intention to violate the rules, but I think that the MAGA slogan is a perfect one from the copywriting point of view. It has everything a successful slogan should have. It's simple, short, easy to remember, it summarizes the candidate's campaign main goal, and it can even be used as an acronym. What more could you wish from a four-letter slogan? Right?

I have promised myself to Google this copywriter or agency behind this slogan. Also, I can only imagine the excitement a guy who's supposed to write an inauguration speech must feel.

So, what do you say guys? A copywriting job for a political campaign: Yes or No?

I make a point to only work on things I believe in.

I was offered some work a little while back that was lucrative but went against everything that I stand for and I respectfully declined.

If you're into it, I say do it.

This is what I call a healthy attitude, lol. I hear you. Honestly, I don't have any experience in this field. I didn't get any offer. Yet, I heard that the price isn't an issue with these clients. Just one tiny detail, though, what if they don't win the elections? They throw you to the lions, lol. Thank you

Think about the rewards of all kinds, lol. You make a name for yourself among other things. Sounds like a great movie script, lol. Thx.

The slogan you refer to wasn't new - it was used in 1980 and in 1992 - by Reagan and by Bill Clinton in speeches during their respective campaigns. Now I wonder if a clever copywriter thought it up in 1980....

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Really? If true, I am so disappointed. Not because of my political preferences, but it actually sounded great. Will Google about it. I mean it. Just remembered. Lead the way, lol. Dunno where and when I saw that one, lol.

If you looked at it the right way, it would be no different than any other copy job.

It requires you to persuade, compel and seduce someones emotions to obtain a desired outcome.

OK, but just imagine the responsibility. You can shape the future, lol. Few words can change the world, if your candidate gets elected. Crazy stuff keeps you awake at night, lol.

I would definetely do! I imagine it must be a very interesting job (and I suppose it pays well), I also imagine it must be a very complicated work, politicians usually have a huge ego, which means they will probably think they are right and you are wrong all the time. It might be frustrating if you dont know how to deal with them.

Beside that, I suppose the rules are different, political copy writing must be very different from the commercial one, there are a lot of rules and resources that can be used in political copy writing, like framing, that are not available for the commercial one.

I also agree that you have to play by the set of very different rules, but at the same time, there are some principles of a universal value. Right? For example, you can treat your VIP client as a "product." You're selling him to the voters, they're supposed to consume this "product." So, I guess you focus on the benefits he brings to the voters = consumers. Now, that we know what to do, we just to figure out how to apply, lol.

It would be like relearning a lot of the copywriting process, since the 'rules' and style of politics would likely prevent one from using every wrench in their tool belt. With that said, I'm sure it would make for an interesting challenge.
