She Was Screaming My Name...

Ever fantasize about being famous...and you're on one of those big fancy buses with shiny wheels...and you're looking out the window while you're chugging wine and googling yourself? Stay with me here.

Ever think you've got the best idea for a business and it's foolproof? Of course you have idiot.

So I thought I'd write this post today to explain something that some haven't figured out yet...and I'm picking on copywriters since that's what I am...or claim to be.

No matter what idea you have and no matter how long you work on it...it will change once you start it.

Do this...

whatever your plan is, start it today.

You'll discover the whole plan changes once you initiate it...but you'll never know what the final plan is until you start.

It happens over and over again in business, and most who have been in business before know this principle.

You may think you're going to do ads, or you may think you're going to write website copy...then you immediately learn that's not what your market wants...they want cereal boxes that sell.

Just start today...and start where you're at...with what you know and let yourself be guided by the force.

I meet so many people that have great ideas but never implement them...and I know once they implement their great idea it will never end up being the way they picture it to be.

Just do it.

Yeah, call your friends idiots... it's a great way to endear yourself to your audience.

The mistake is not only calling them idiots, but making your audience feel like idiots, without coming out and saying it. I see that copy mistake made more frequently than you'd think.

To aspiring copywriters: Write, wait, re-read. How does it make you feel? One skill/talent of good copywriters is being able to put themselves in their audience's place. Know them, their true motivations, feelings, and desires. Make them want it without telling them to.

        Happy 2017!
