Skveeze Page Critique for CureTinnitus.org

Hiya,

I'm so glad I joined this forum. Interestingly, the moment it became a paid resource, I decided to subscribe. I've already learned a whole lot, ordered some copywriting books, and had a few great laughs!

Thanks to everyone here :-)

Here are two new squeeze pages that I just updated. They now contain more info beyond the fold.

Is Tinnitus Your Fault? | Cure Tinnitus Community
Is Tinnitus Dangerous? | Cure Tinnitus Community

If I could figure out how to "force" a WP Page or Post into a particular theme, I would not need the goofy theme part of the URL, it was just a slick way for me to "get out" of my site's look and feel (which has all kinds of menus and distractions).

I'm also curious, if I could kinda "presell" them with a sentence like: We are doing this as a public service to introduce ourselves to you. We offer online learning programs, eCourses, and a membership community to support the healing efforts of people with tinnitus worldwide.

With smiles from Vienna,
Dainis

For your first link, Tinnitus your fault: I'd seriously consider putting

You will receive our complimentary 7-day Tinnitus to Liberation First Steps eCourse and your email is safe with CureTinnitus.org. This form automatically takes you to our website to give you immediate acess after you confirm your email address.
Our principles are honesty, kindness, and consistency.

up above your first opt-in box. Also, your page is set in a serif-font; I'd seriously consider changing to a non-serif font and make it a couple of points larger. [and use your spell-check option]

Your page is heavy on features; you need to present benefits as well - as in, why should your reader want any of these features? As an example, a pencil is yellow. That's a feature. Why do you need a yellow pencil? So you can find it faster when you drop it - that's a benefit.

    Hope this helps,
    Dot

Thank you very much. Here is an older version of the squeeze page:

Cure Tinnitus Community: We teach people how to let go of tinnitus

I tested all different kinds of advertising, and fault-based ads have the highest click percentage, right after "Tinnitus is Dangerous." It was a sad few weeks for me as I watched "teaching-based" ads and "soothing ads" totally underperform in comparison to the danger and fault based ones.

I will definitely look at that page and balance out features and benefits, thanks for pointing that out. Huh, need to spell-check? Will do! Color me embarrassed on that one!

I do have something running in my mind, though: sometimes opt-ins stop when I start Google advertising. I think it has something to do with my site being side-by-side with perceived scam companies. When I turn off Google Ads, then I get 2-4 opt-ins per day. It seems to come in waves, and I am starting to understand this group of people better and better. Even the condition is partially seasonal.

    So, here are some considerations:
    • do I even promote with Adwords, because it doesn't really seem to improve my opt-ins and sometimes seems to stop opt-ins.
    • should I change the index page of my website into a more obvious squeeze page like Client Attraction System: Free Client Attraction Audio CD I tested this and it was like a Google dance, if I turned my index page at Cure Tinnitus Member Community into a squeeze page, then my opt-ins went up to a minimum of 5 per day, but my Google rank dropped quickly. Then I would put my normal index page back out front, and I would climb back up to the top again.
    • does my footer ad help or detract?

Some of these things are basically matters of testing, and I will try testing different colors and fonts for the ad you see discussed here. The font is already something like 14px, but I guess I could make it bigger.

Somehow, I want to go the opposite direction of the stream here, and I still want my work to be effective. People say that fear, panic, scarcity, etc. create responses, but people with tinnitus are usually in a high state of anxiety and overwhelm already. So, I have attempted to create a "peaceful" and "different" environment.

Again, I may wind up with the same garish squeeze page that everyone seems to be using:

...Warning, if you read this, then xyz

    Who ELSE wants to ...

...with red headlines, a sans-serif font, bolds here and there, and yellow highlights.

Oh well, I'll have to test it, I guess. How about a split test on the same ad as "soothing" and "garish?"

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

    Sincerely,
    Dainis

The second one in your first post is vastly better.

I actually had tinnitus and I guarantee you the very very last thing someone with tinnitus wants to hear is its all their fault.

What they want is to know how to make it go away, permanently and they want massive amount of proof that it works. Alls you have to do is do those two things and you will get lots of orders.

...if you "had" tinnitus, then you would be a candidate for an interview. too many people believe that tinnitus is incurable, which is why i created this video: YouTube - Is tinnitus curable?

thank you for your comments, and you are right...i just wonder why people click on something that puts the "last thing i want to hear" in their faces. what's that about?

...also, it's funny, because just because they click does not mean they sign up. They click the accusatory stuff, but then those people often don't sign up...possibly because i change the tone. I mean, in a sense it makes sense, because the ad makes them curious, so they see what it's about and just click away if they feel like I'm roping them into something.

Hmm...maybe I should test just using my regular site template.

Another thing is that no matter what Adwords strategy I use, it seems to me that opt-ins decrease when I run Adwords. Can someone explain that one to me?

So, I'll be testing: Adwords running and not, squeeze page template, and actually I'm remembering that the ads without the bullet list seemed to pull a bit better.

Regarding getting orders, I really am sitting here with a phenomenal product. All of my testimonials are real. I have a 4% conversion rate from opt-ins to members, and with a 300 person list, I've got 12 members right now.

So, as cool as that is, I would very much like to pump up my membership count and any strategic suggestions would be most welcome.

    Best,
    Dainis
