Are you looking for copywriters, or translators? If it's the latter surely a quick Google search would yield results.

    Otherwise...

I can do Hebrew. Maybe French, too, but it might turn out a bit tenuous...

Can you post some more details about the project in question?

Probably the best bet would be to ask webmasters that own foreign language sites.

At least for the EU countries I have experience with, there's nothing as targeted as this forum or the many eLance sites. But you may target generic job boards with an english ad.

This is assuming you are looking for content writers, as Alexa pointed out. Copywriters... in EU you should have a look at advertising agencies (and get ready to be scared when you get a quote).

      Hi All,

Thanks for answering. To clarify things, I am definitely looking for writers not translators and yes perhaps I don't actually require copywriters rather I need content writers so thanks to Alexa I will try reposting in main internet marketing forum.

For Hebrew I will be looking to write travel articles and information on cheap hotels and budget travel in destinations throughout USA, germany and Italy. Articles should be a minimum of 300 words and no more than 500, they must be uniquely written and not scraped from any other sites.

Thanks for your help and advice. I will try reposting this in the main forum.

That actually doesn't make sense when someone is looking for copywriting in a language they themselves do not know. There is no way for someone in that position to judge quality from a sample.

That's why it's important to choose a translator or translation company with credentials and good testimonials.

I can vouch for MotherTongue - They spend a lot of time finding the best copywriters around the world who can translate so you get a creative translation that works like an original. They are not the cheapest though and if you're wondering - I worked there!

[BEWARE! Thinking out loud below. Not satisfied with the ideas. Not erasing as it may perhaps generate some for others.]

I think that -say- a sales letter translated by a good translator should have the equal strength in the target language. I mean your best bet need not be a very good copywriter. The translator would be able to understand what the letter conveys, the tone, the structure and establish the same is his/her language... But such translators are probably hard to come by, and it is unlikely for you to find out for sure that they are that good. (business idea: international copywriting certification a la TOEFL).

Plus, you may get a very good copywriter -say- from Korea but if she lacks the English skills you are in for a trouble.

A lot of the Turkish sites and applications (Google and MS Windows included) are full of non-sensical troubleshooting dialogues and FAQ pages. Even these giant companies don't seem to have found a way to get the good stuff - guess who that would be

Most these tasks result in outsourcing to a company which claims to have the best people in 120 languages or something and hoping that they'll get it done right.

On the other hand, if you are looking to have original content created in the languages, only some of the above applies. The big problem then would be to figure out how good they are in copywriting alone.

One idea for testing may be to ask them for sample sales letter copies for a product that is available in all the above countries (think like a bestselling book, or ringtones for a worldwide rock star's sons), set up Google analytics and see how their writing converts. This, I recognize is somewhat far-fetched and there is also the fact that copywriting for a sales letter can be a lot more different that copywriting in travel blogs or debt management advice.

I was a Japanese to English technical translator for many years (how I started online) and I have a few suggestions. I want to address copywriting vs. content even though you clarified you need content, in case it helps someone.

        For a copywriter:

IMO, someone who is a native speaker in the language you want to translate into is a _must_. You are not just changing words (Geez, Google translate or Babelfish does that), you have to sell cross-culturally.

I can't imagine our style sales letters in English (with an American cultural slant) would be close to what's needed in Japanese. Even in English, we obviously need people who specialize in the unspoken impressions and subtleties of written language to SELL.

Someone with copywriting experience and a native speaker in another language is a good candidate, like some people here. However, like someone pointed out, you won't know if they are really good/effective or where the problems are in the finished product (the translation, the copy, the tone, the sale page design, etc).

When I translated, I worked for a translation agency or company that had an editor go over the translation for accuracy.

        For content:

Content is important, however, there's less to "lose" if it isn't perfect. I do not recommend an online translation tool like Babelfish. It works in a pinch, but if you need professional copy, that is not a good option.

Again, ideally look for someone who is a native speaker in the language and who is a good writer. Not all native speakers can write or communicate well. Some translators are multi-lingual and could be a good possibility.

You can start with an article in English and have that same article translated into multiple languages.

Translators often charge by the word with a minimum. I charged 15 cents per word in English or 2-4 cents per Japanese character. Agencies probably doubled or tripled that price, so if you can, contact a translator directly.

A good option is this professional translator board, so you can contact someone directly.

Copywriters too, I know as an experienced translator that it's a possibility to set up a deal with a translator to provide a new service for your customers and work as the middle man. For some languages, like Spanish, it could be a real opportunity.

      Just my two cents

If you are looking for average content writers and not copywriters, then you are likely to find some cheap ones at the following websites:

      freelancer.com
      scriptlance.com
      rentacoder.com

These people should be able to do an average to a decent job for about $3-5 per 500 words. Some of them may even be native. Sometimes you might end up shelling as much as $2 per 100 words though, especially for rare languages.

In case you can spend $5-10 per 500 words and want professional or a job which can be called a rather neat attempt, you can try out these websites:

      elance.com
      guru.com

In case you want a professional copywriter or very high quality content writer and budget is not really an issue, then Warrior Forum is the right place.

Alternately, you can use Google or other translation services and get the work proofread by a cheap proofreader from the above mentioned websites for $2-3 per 500 words or so.

      Warm Regards

      Aakshey

    Hi:

I am a native Spanish speaker, I am writing here to warn you about the difference between a copywriter a translator and a content writer, I had to learn to write copy myself because the word `copywriter` does not even exists in Spanish, I have tried to outsource this part of my work, but it has been extremely difficult, since most of the people do not understand the concept, and something even more difficult the "tropicalization" of your topic meaning : yes from the Rio Bravo to Patagonia everybody speaks spanish, but each part has their own expressions (I wont write here differences and if we all understand each other) what I am trying to say is that you need to be very careful who you choose, even most of Latin America is very familiar with the "Mexican" spanish (because many of the translations of TV programs, Series and movies are done in Mexico) if you really want to hit the emotions of a specific country make sure the writer knows the "slang".

P.M. if you have specific questions
