How to discover a good sales letter?

I was listening to some Dan Kennedy's stuff and some other copywriters and they all say to look for good copy and then to use it in my swipe file to study it and get something from it.

So how does one find a good sales letter? How can I know that the letter is converting well?

Well, find a letter that you've seen run over and over again in a magazine.

Odds are if you have seen a Diet ad run several times in the National Enquirer it's a winner.

Buy Maxim Magazine for 6 months and see what weiner extender pill ads are in there every single month.

Buy Muscle Mag and Black Belt Magazine... Matt Furey has an ad in BBM I don't know how long it's been running, but I know it's been a very long time. He's made thousands off that ad and that is even before he introduces his back-end products.

    There's a start.

    Take care,

    Bill

    Hey,

    1. You could check on click bank to see what products are converting well.

    2. Buy swipe file resource. Possible to find some on ebay. I've seen swipe files offered as WSOs.

    3. Save sales letters you find that hit you emotionally and motivate you. Chances are the same communication will motivate somebody else.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for all the input, I'll put it to good use. Currently I'm taking several courses on how to sell (general selling) so I can learn the basics, then I'll put my focus on how to sell on "paper".

But still, thanks to all of you.

      Bill,

I think you are taking the right steps. Some of the best copy writers (Gary Halbert for example) had a background in 'GENERAL SELLING' to learn the basics.

If you can spare about 20 minutes or so, you might find my PictoGrigm of Persuasion to be of some value to your efforts.

PS. I'll be happy to answer questions regarding the PictoGrigm of Persuasion as it applies to copywriting.

      Pictogrigm Of Persuasion

And there is an audio at YouTube which goes over it.

Just my opinion, but a copy writer with sales experience has a leg up on those without sales background.

Join a sales organization and sell. Some of them will have you out with sales pros who offer critique. That's step one and two.

Step three is set fire to the books on selling you bought. Unless you're selling books on selling, in which case put the ads you bought from into your swipe file.
