I got an EMV score of 75% for my headline...

Thanks for using Advanced Marketing Institute's Headline Analyzer! You submitted the following headline for Emotional Marketing Value analysis:

"Do You NEED A Freelance Copywriter Who Writes Sales Copy That SUCKS"

    Your Headline's EMV Score:

    75.00%
This score indicates that your headline has a total of 75.00% Emotional Marketing Value (EMV) Words. To put that in perspective, the English language contains approximately 20% EMV words.

And for comparison, most professional copywriters' headlines will have 30%-40% EMV Words in their headlines, while the most gifted copywriters will have 50%-75% EMV words in headlines.

A perfect score would be 100%, but that is rare unless your headline is less than five words.

While the overall EMV score for your headline is 75.00%, your headline also has the following predominant emotion classification:

    Intellectual
Your headline carries words that predominantly appeal to most people's intellectual sphere. Intellectual impact words are especially effective when your goal is to arouse curiosity, and when offering products and services that require reasoning or careful evaluation. The majority of words with emotional impact in the English language fall in this Intellectual category. Intellectual impact words are the most-used of all three categories, and have the broadest appeal to people in general.

Intellectual impact words are best used to attune copy and sales messages aimed at people and businesses involved in the fields of education, law, medicine, research, politics, and similar fields. While not restricted to these groups, by giving presentations which are weighted with Intellectual impact words, your clients and customers will be more positively influenced and you are more likely to attain a more favorable response.

    I am really happy that I got 75%, isn't that great? Woo-hoo!

      Good job.

      But a word of caution.

This is merely a mechanical calculation of "emotional value".

      Not potential profitability.

You won't know until you test it out and let
the audience vote with their wallet.

"Wife Of Famous Movie Star Swears Under Oath Her New Perfume Does Not Contain An Illegal Sexual Stimulant"

The above headline gets a 44.44% rating from the site, which claims that the headline has many words of "spiritual" appeal. Perhaps with some more advice from this site, Gary Halbert could have got his score above 50% and enter the realm of "the most gifted copywriters." If his scores were higher, than maybe lots of people would even show up in person to find out what the headline was about.

The headline works for me at least.

I did get some responses because of the headline.

I got great feedback as well.

Though Jag & Paul said it right, I agree no less with them on what they said.

    Ronak.

      Hi Ronak,

My comment wasn't about your headline.

It can pull in tons of sales for all I know.

But that's not for me to say. Neither
could the headline analyzer. Or any of us.

      Because we don't know!

It's for the market to say. At the end of
the day, it's their opinion that counts.

In the stock market, we have a saying
      - "mr market is always right".

      The same applies to selling.

And if you said this headline works well for you,
I assume you are getting many clients with that.

Great for you. Keep optimizing and testing,
and you could do even better.

I tried this a few months ago. After a lot of mucking around, got a headline that rated over 90%, yet sucked in sales.

It's all about the "message to market to media match". All 3 ingredients of the pie must be strong to gain the end result.

A great lesson, even counting the poor sales.

No offense, but i think it's like a radar detector going nuts over a store's alarm system. It's picking out power words, but there's no way for it to know the specific market that the copy is being directed to.

    it's great in theory, though.

    This is my personal opinion

Why the caps on NEED and SUCKS?

You lose Intrigue value - which is your main emotional appeal in that headline.
