So if your only using online as a way to make money your crazy. Direct mail is where its at, online is great for testing and a good portion of sales but mail is where you make big money.

end of rant.

Just wondering if any of you guys out there have swipes of control peices for the big mailers, across a number of industry's, just so happens im in fitness.

insidedirectmail and whosendingwhat come with hefty price tags. the srds of 1 yr is at the lib, i know that but u dont get controls or see the marketing.

Any suggestions, insights, or swipes would be awesome

    You're absolutely right, direct mail is where the money is. You actually can have way better results even when you take your online leads into an offline sequence like I do.

    You might want to check out EdithRoman if you don't want to spend the change on srds. You may also want to check out your library, a lot of the major cities have it but like you said don't show pieces.

    If you think spending a whopping $127 for a 1-year basic membership to whosmailingwhat (which includes 5 FREE hi-rez downloads of direct mail packages) is a lot of money... then stay online 'cause it costs big bucks, upfront, to do offline.

    Looking at direct mail packages sent out 2 or 3 decades ago is fine, but when you have money on the line, you need to know what's working TODAY... in your niche.

      Lawrence Bernstein's Ultimate-Online-Swipefile is a good resource,
      but not cheap.

      He works like a banshee on it -- that I do know.

    You are absolutely right. I used to subscribe to every single SRDS publication and yes they are a LOT of money but I did close to 4 million in sales because of them. They have the low down on any type of media imaginable.

    It was thanks to them I was able to advertise in over 3000 newspapers and mags simultaneously and receive an average of 16,700 inquiries per day.

    I am not affiliated with SRDS and get nothing out of saying this whatsoever, but I can say, they are one of the original players in media research.
