4 replies
Hello;
I want to know, what is the rate to write 25 emails marketing in following order:
1. the first email is an 'about me' email
2. following 4 emails after that, which in story/tips/tricks email
3. Then, the fifth email is promotional email
4. After that, every 5 story/tips/tricks, emails it will be one promotional email

Anyone can do that?

How much the rate....

    I usually do emails for $100 each, but on a larger order for
    a lot of emails it would be less.

    In my opinion and experience, you can promote a lot more
    aggressively than 1 in 5 - though what I do often is write
    an engaging content email and segue into an offer at the end.

    It's a little trickier if you're doing affiliate marketing because
    you have no control over the price of the product and
    can't offer a discount for quick action... which is, in my
    experience, the most reliable way to get people to take
    action.

  • Loren - there are exceptions to that. Many Clickbank products offer slashed prices for a "limited time" on their website, and I have used those "sales" before in affiliate promotion emails to garner clickthroughs. It actually works quite well.

    Raja, Loren's rates are fairly common in email copywriting, if you're looking for someone of substance. It is fairly standard to charge $100 per email on the lower end, if you have a proven track record. When you consider the number of hours that go into creating each email, that is typically a bargain.

    Of course, the number of hours per email is reduced dramatically when you're writing an autoresponder series, as you only need to do the research once - and can proceed to use it for every email. That is why many copywriters offer discounts, ranging from the small to the substantial, on larger series of emails.

    To be honest, you can likely include a link to an affiliate program in every second email, sometimes even several emails in a row. What is important is *how* the link is presented. The hard-sell affiliate emails should be less frequent, but integrating a paragraph like this :

    "(Quick Tip : If you're looking for a faster way to do X, I recommend checking out Y...
    ---> INSERT AFFILIATE LINK)"

    into almost every email can actually have a dramatic, positive impact on your earnings from the series.

    I actually just finished a series like that of 50 emails. There were very few messages in the series that were pure promotion (less than 5, I believe) and yet we managed to integrate at least 2 affiliate links into 30+ of those emails, without being intrusive or adding hype.

    If you'd like to talk a bit about your project with someone experienced in creating a series like this, whether that is to get some advice or discuss having me create the series for you, feel free to get in touch either through the forum or via the contact form on my website (see signature.)

    Best of luck!

      Yes, $100 is the going rate for less experienced email writers.

      Pros like Jay White charge upward of $500 per email -- which is a bargain, because his emails deliver the goods and make MILLIONS of dollars for his clients.

      Jay also recommends a series of just seven emails per autoresponder series.

      Kind regards

        oooOOooo! I wish someone would hire me for $25.00 per email. It would make my day.

        On a more serious note, I totally agree with people. The amount of time spent on research and writing an email does mean that it will be a lot more than what a typical writing assignment might cost.
