John Carlton Critique

I was wondering if anyone has ever had their copy critiqued by John Carlton?

If so, was it John who peronally critiqued your copy or was it one of his underlings.

Also, would you recommend this service? Thanks for your answer.

No, but I've critiqued lots of John's copy. John IS that good but unfortunately, the stuff he puts on the web is not done by him and looks like complete amateur hour. I'm speaking of a few years ago so it may be better now.

Anyway, the incremental improvement you MAY get from a Carlton crit versus an "average" copywriter is hardly significant accept in cases of extreme volume.

Over the last few years, I know of several online salesletters that John got scorched over publicly that he did not personally write.

The better question to ask might be what copywriter has a strong record with the niche your sales letter is going into. Ask them how much they'd charge you to critique your copy and then pay them for their expertise.

They know that market... they know it's hot buttons... they know what works and what doesn't already, so take advantage of their specialized knowledge.

After all, no one copywriter is an expert on every single niche... no one.

      Take care,

      Mike

    Think someone already said it...

    Depends on the niche.

If I were doing a letter on how to play guitar, you bet your a** I'd be considering a critique from John Carlton. Golf and how to kick someone's butt... the same thing.

For internet marketing products... Contact Vin Montello. His guys are the best hands down. My highest recommendation.

Richard, those headlines work for a number of reasons.

"Astonishing secrets" is not the really one of them.

Curiosity, the story, the hook, the promise, the future pacing (by people putting themselves in the story), the connection are reasons those 2 headlines work.

You're thinking 'words'. Try thinking 'salesmanship'.

If, IF that was his (who in the hell knows anyway), and if, IF it was stolen by so many, it was stolen by amateurs, kids.

Show the list of professional business owners who have hired him.

And the second one is way too long.
      Seriously, Richard:

      1. John Carlton's work has been an inspiration to every successful copywriter on this forum.

      2. I am 52 years old. And I've been writing copy for just about the past 20 years. John's worth every penny he charges. Yes, I speak from personal experience. I will not divulge further.

      3. Richard, you've alienated yourself. I don't know who you are or why you would intentionally disparage, but I will tell you this:

The wagons are circling around John. And rightly so. He deserves it.

      4. Richard, you would be wise to either delete your comments or refrain from further comment on this matter.

Because your ignorance is indeed showing.

I do not mean that as an insult. I mean that as you do not know whereof you speak. You are ignorant about John Carlton and your challenges requesting further information are indicative.

Okay smalls... who are you really?

It's obvious you're someone on the board who decided to create a fake persona just to push buttons. You've done nothing but push buttons since you got here (what was it, yesterday?)...

So... who are you? The whole "Hey look at me I'm a douchebag" thing isn't going to play much longer. Just come out and admit you're just having fun with some of the boys here.

Or... if you are real... yo moderators how bout bouncing this tool...

Nevermind... no way he's real anyway. Too over the top.

Well since it doesn't seem that anyone here has hired John for critiques, I have.

I paid him $1200 bucks an hour (and that's years ago.) And I came back for second helpings.

John doesn't just critique your copy. He goes after your entire business.

        Time flies by.

        Make sure to record it.

        It's gold.

I think you can get critiques from John himself or from one of his merry band.

John's critiques are going to cost a lot more but they are worth it.

He's a friggen marketing genius and there's a good reason why people like Kern, Pagan, Schefren, and others forked over the big bucks to get Carlton's critiques.

        The man knows his stuff.

        Peace.

I think he also has a online pay per critique service. Last time I checked it was about $300 per critique. I think this might be what OP is talking about. I am not sure but I don't think it will be JC himself doing critique at this rate.
