Do you feel without scarcity a product would sell alot less? Scarcity has been used for years.Infomercials has been using it for years.Gives you the feeling if you don't act now you lose out on something.Would like to hear everyone's opinion on this part of copy.

Scarcity is important. I wrote a post on it a while back, which you might find useful:

    Yes.

    If applied skilfully...in most cases...
scarcity will usually help boost sales.

    Scarcity essentially plays on your
"fear" emotion. That you will lose out
on something if you don't act right now.

You can often see salesman applying
scarcity tactic in seminars (first ten
    spots will get 30% off).

And you can actually see some really anxious
participants run to sign up...that in the process
creates social proof and adds to the level
    of "attractiveness" and urgency.

That only make others follow suit.

They are just really afraid to lose out.

Really...scarcity can be a very potent
weapon in the hands of a persuasive
    salesman.

Scarcity definitely has a big impact. But you have to do it right.

If you don't, or it comes across as "fake", you turn people off or lose credibility.

You can use pricing, bonuses, availability or even the fact that if they take action today whatever problem they're having can be solved, but if they walk away they'll still be struggling tomorrow.

One common mistake I see is duping people into saying there's a limited quantity of digital products... Like "I can only afford to let 100 people (only 2 spots remaining!!!!) get their hands on my ultimate guide to making bazillions of dollars a day, and then I'm shutting down the site forever"...

Unless there's a real reason, like it's PLR licenses or there are support issues no one shuts down a digital product that's selling.

So you have to make it believable just like every other aspect of your copy.

We've already had 2 price increases, and as we add new features you can be assured the price will go up in the future as well. It will never be lower than you see it today. I can only guarantee the current price for the next 24 hours, however if you purchase today you can lock in your discounted price and receive lifetime updates absolutely free...

Due to the personal support our members receive, we only allow 100 members at any given time. If you see an order button below, we have a few spots available. I can guarantee you they won't last long...

If you're like me you've tried everything to overcome your anxiety. After awhile it feels hopeless... After seeing 5-6 different doctors and shoving a cocktail of highly addictive (and harmful) drugs down your throat to no avail, it's easy to lose hope.

    I've been there before...

Try XYZ Anxiety treatment today at my risk. If you're like our thousands of satisfied clients, you'll see a dramatic reduction in anxiety in 3 days or less... And you've got a full 90-days to see if it REALLY works for YOU. It's helped thousands of people overcome their anxiety and increase the quality of their lives in ways they've never imagined...

And it can do the same for you.

If it doesn't work for you for ANY reason, simply let me know anytime over the next 90-days for a prompt and courteous refund, no-questions asked...

Those are just quick and dirty examples off the top of my head. But it's important to be believable and have a real reason why the scarcity is in place.

    -Scott

(Edit: Just read Paul's link for the first time, saw it after I posted, some fantastic advice there.)

Scarcity can spell the difference between a sale and a lost opportunity.

Scarcity pushes a buyer to buy now; without it, the purchasing decision is delayed and in some cases, totally forgotten.

I've bought quite a number of products on the basis of scarcity, whether it's a one-time offer, or a one-time huge discount.

So as a consumer, I could say that it it really works. One might argue that you don't need scarcity if the you believe your product is good, but how would a potential buyer know if the product is good unless he buys it?

You could do a split testing -- a sales copy with scarcity and one without, and study the results.

Thanks for the replies.I also do believe scarcity is very important.Sometime people need a little push of persuasion with scarcity. But like Scott said you don't come across as fake cause you will lose credibility very fast.

1 thing that really pisses me off, is people claiming they'll take their video down, or price will go up, or it is ony a special launch price or there is only so long they can keep this up because of a certain tactic they don't want known to the masses etc, and a couple of weeks or months later, it is still there.

Its just out-right dishonest, yet its being done on so many of these clickbank product launches i've seen this year. Even the big names are guilty of it. I know they still work, but for me, they stopped working long time ago.

Excuse the rant. I just had to say it.

Hey Gerry I do believe without some scarcity people would not really pay attention to it.If you think about it, look at those late night infomercials where they say "IF YOU ORDER NOW YOU'LL GET THE 2ND ONE FREE! ONLY IF YOUR ORDER IN THE NEXT 15 MINS" It plays a roll in your head if I don't order now I miss this opportunity.I do believe it is very important to include in your copy only if you truly mean it not goes against what you said like ZERO mentioned. Thanks for your reply.
