IMO - the first one is better.

Reason why? Unless you're a HUGE name people looking to get into your market have no idea who you are, and it probably doesn't make a difference either (at this point). This early in the game all they care about is what they're going to get, and how that will make them feel. Later on you'll want to start building that relationship.

Now that said, 100 lessons for $1 seems a bit out of line to me. I'm always suspicious when I see an offer giving you tons for very little. It devalues the offer in my mind, subconsciously. Perhaps try 10 lessons for $1?

Hi Jonathon and thanks for responding.

The offer is for a one week trial. They get full access to my site (over 100 lessons) if they like it, then $19.97 a month. It's just a carrot to get people to sign up.

        No.1.

But Jonathan's right. The offer sounds TOO good. Bring it back to a more believable level, or briefly explain the real implications.

I would say the first one.

It's very specific and there is a big promise there.
If you are going to use this for AdWords, the first one
          wins IMHO.

However, if it is for a headline. There need to be more
          work involved.

By the way, be careful with the exclamation mark. You
seem to be using it too much in your copy which can hurt
          you.

Let me know if this is helpful.

          Be Well,
          - Tian Yan

Knowing the context makes it better... I like Roger's idea of "take your pick of 100...."

My eyes tend to glaze over if I think I'm going to get 100 of anything all at once. If you can emphasize that point that you have access to these, but you don't have see them all at once, that might be helpful.

      Thanks Jonathon,

But this is a membership site. The carrot I'm wielding here is total access to ALL the lessons for a week for just $1. If they like it, it turns into a monthly subscription for $19.97.

The take your pick idea suggests they only have access to one lesson.

I'm assuming that you can take any one of your lessons and go through it regardless of where they're at as a player?

Do you have a sequential element built in there at all?

Well, they really don't have to take the lessons in sequence unless they want to. Some lessons require previous skills but most don't. It's mostly about improvisation and creating your own music.

I haven't reached 15 posts yet so I can't display the URL here but if you click on my name, you'll see my homepage.

Have you thought about offering 1 full month of access instead of 1 week? Most of the IM offers I've seen usually involve 1 month free. I couldn't tell you why but I'm sure someone's tested it. Just an idea.

Yup. Offered a full month's access for $1 dollar at first. The problem? Some people forgot that after a month, the $19.97 a month fee would kick in. And get this - they were ALL women. Strange. So I changed it to access for one week.

        Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

Regarding the all women part - have you done any market research? Obviously many men like to play piano, but for some reason perhaps women actually search online more? I dunno, its a bit out there, but I've found that more men than women search for learning to play guitar related things online (by about 62% to 38%).

        1. Google "learn to play piano"
        2. Pick the three biggest sites
        3. Go to Quantcast
        4. Plug in each site, see if you notice any trends in the demographics.
        5. Modify your marketing efforts as needed.

Hi Justin and thanks for your reply.

I actually tried that offer once but didn't keep it up there long enough. It is good though!

      Thanks again
      Edward

P.S. I should mention that I do offer a free sample video lesson so people do get a chance to see and hear me.

Quiescen - have you been promoting this in particular places that would account for the difference in demographics?
