Just put a new pop-up form on my site. Not sure if the copy is good. Any ideas?

Thanks - Mike

Tell the reader EXACTLY what to do, don't just say subscribe, tell them to put their name and email in the boxes below. Adding an arrow pointing to the opt-in box can help too.

Give a better, more concise reason for opting in. At the moment it says you get a subscription to Fitness Contrarian, but what does that involve? And what's in your surprise report?

    Hi Mike,

Since your site seems to have a contrarian theme, why don't you make it...

"The 7 Secret Myths That Are Holding Back Your [FILL IN THE GAP]"

Suddenly, your offer is valuable, if you can tie it in with what your audience wants most, but struggle to get...see?

    That's the concept...not a headline to swipe.

I'm trying to illustrate by way of an example.

Can you come up with 7 reasons why people struggle with something they are trying to achieve?

The pay off is we can create a headline for that offer which closely matches what your readers want.

Failng that, you can have the pop-up form lead to a questinaire which asks them the 7 areas they struggle with. Always have the questions on topics you can comfortably answer.

Now you know for certain how you can help them.

    All this making sense now..?

Fire away if you need more help.

    All the best,
    Ewen

  • Hey Ewenmack, and Andrew

    Thanks for your suggestions.

My surprise report is about workout recovery and how breakfast is not the most important meal of the day if you are working out.

I am thinking about putting this in my opt-in box and or the pop-up form:

What’s one of the biggest diet myths? Do you think breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Are you exercising and not getting the results you want? If so, you have to read my free surprise myth busting report. The report will tell you what the most important meal of the day is and when to eat it to achieve optimal fitness.

      We are getting closer.

For more bite, can you tell us what happens if they get their meal planning wrong?

How will this effect their workout?

Can you say their are x number of points in your report?

      Speak soon,

Don't make it so complicated. If you are answering that market's biggest need/fear/whatever, you only need one sentence. No one is going to read two paragraphs.

Btw, I would consider just making this part of your page instead of a pop-in. It's something to test but me personally, i absolutely loathe pop-in(terupts).

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

      Hi Mike,

Not enough tease there my man.

Here's how this tease concept works and is constructed.

You give out clues that are so close to the answer to what they want most, but you leave out one piece of vital information.

      It drives the reader CRAZY!

I'll give you an example then show you how to construct ones like it.

"These common breakfast cereals keeps you fat and slothfull"

The reader thinks "what are they, and I wonder if I have been eating any of them. I'm carrying a few extra pounds and I tend to get a bit tired in the afternoon, so maybe that's the cause.

      Here's another...

"Dead doctors don't lie. The startling findings of U.L.C.A. They did autopsies on 14,891 doctors over 10 years to find out why they had a shorter lifespan than the rest of the community. They all had this defiency which can be easily supplied to your body by way of this Turkish fruit. It's readilly available in your supermarket, all year too. Is this the new fountain of youth?"

This one combining authority and very specific numbers add too your believability.
Doing so in one of your bullets carries that credibility over to your other bullets.

Still gives out clues that they are familiar with, like supermarkets.
Planting the seed of youthfullness for the big payoff for getting this information.

So again, lots of teasing by giving out clues to the readers greatest wants and desires and leave out one vital piece of the puzzel.

The only way they get it is to sign up or buy.

It's an art form which can be learnt, however few get it.

Come back Mike if you need more help with the art of the tease.

      All the best,
      Ewen

This is scary. The screen goes black and then you have a partial image of a person. Why not have something which does not black out the screen. Also if you can have a smiling face and clear description of what you are offering, it would be very helpful.
