How much should I charge for a 1,100 word opticians company brochure?

Hi, I'm still relatively new to all this and basically I've completed a draft of a brochure for an opticians company and this is the first time I have ever done a brochure. I didn't have to do any imagery or html, it was all writing although I was given very strict instructions on what to emphasise/describe etc. Just about selling the company as well as possible, without going over board.
I was referred to person by another editor who I started working for last month (when I began doing copywrting assignments).

The editor for this brochure knows I am new to copywriting and has requested me to tell him what fee I would be charging for the completed project (I have sent him a draft so just need to edit that and send in the completed copy).

I have no idea what fee I should charge - I do not want to fall into that trap of charging much lower fees than I should be, as I know a lot of people are in that situation.
The brochure 3 pages in total, 1,100 words. I've researched this and some sites suggest that the copywriter's fee for a brochure of this size should be about £500 but that would depend on the content.

I would appreciate your advise, sorry for sounding like such a novice.

James, may I suggest that you improve your grammar before increasing your prices???

I charge an hourly rate for my services, instead of using a pay-per-word model. And I write good English, with all the right apostrophes ...

    Sorry to sound so grim!

Okay, well this is a first!
I don't see any apostrophe errors - the 'copywriter's fee' is a singular use. 'Opticians company' doesn't need an apostrophe because I am not referring to a specific optician.

Do I have time to check for petty spelling errors when I am in a hurry? No.

I only had 2 minutes to write this before I had to go. Sadly I'll just have to do more research on the Internet. It's not easy when you don't have a laptop and you're having to work in Internet cafes every day.

James- One of the best newsletters to subscribe to for that type of copywriting is The Well-Fed Writer by Peter Bowerman. He also wrote a few books, The Well Fed Writer and Back for Seconds that give a lot of detail on getting started in B2B copywriting.

To answer your question, and this is in US Dollars, there would be a range of $500 on the low end to about $1500 on the high end. Most writers charge around $750-$800 US dollars.

The focus of this forum is really not on that type of business-to-business copywriting which is why you're had few responses here (also, with some exceptions, this can be a tough crowd).

Best of luck in your copywriting career.
