Poll for Product Name.... Help Is Greatly Appreciated!

*edit: Forgot to include, the other name we were thinking is "The Real Secret to Abs".

Sooo, not sure if I can post this here, but I thought asking copywriters would be a good bet. Your feedback in the poll is appreciated.

My partner and I are soon to be coming out with an e-course/clickbank product. We're pretty much finished up the final drafts and will be getting it all compiled shortly. Only one problem is, we haven't settled on a name.

The more I learn about copywriting and branding, the more this perplexes me. The top products in our niche are things like Truth About Abs, Diet Solution, Fat Burning Furnace, Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

We have the domain GetRippedIn30Days.com (only filler there right now). I like the domain, but if I need to change it I can.

Our target market is the P90x crowd, so, not people just wanting to lose weight, but people that want to get in great shape all around, ages 30-45, men and women.

It's a solid product, just need a name to go with it. I know how to get good distribution, and we've hired a good copywriter, so just need this missing link.

If I can't post this here my apologies, please move if needed.

Have you considered looking in some muscle/fitness magazines and see what words the advertisers are using consistently over time?

I'd go for the get ripped abs one. The thirty days one sounds like a too good to be true scam. There are loads of ads claiming to reveal the secrets of great abs etc. in bodybuilding magazines, so you need to stand out from the crowd, not just follow suit. But at the same time, you need to appeal to the same market. Personally, I would go to a gym and ask people what they thought about the ads that exist - that will give you a good idea about whether people are falling for the 'you can get ripped in 5 mins' approach or whether they disregard these wild claims because they know getting ripped takes time and hard work.

I'm a fan of Get Ripped in 30 Days.

You've got a result and a promise all wrapped up together in there.

It's enough to make me think, "Oh really? How?" - so you get curiosity going too.

    That's a win.

Ripped in 30 is my favorite. Couldn't really say why...

I like Get Ripped in 30 Days. I think it comes down to your target audience. When I searched for P90X I saw a lot of things like 'get ripped'. It looks like one of the videos is named 'AB Ripper X'. I think including something like 'get ripped' will appeal to the bodybuilding crowd, and to people who are already fit and are looking to take their fitness to the next level.

If you want to expand the audience, I think going for one of the names that include 'Abs' in the title will work. A lot of women for example might want great abs like Angelina Jolie and will think to search for that, but might not think to look for ripped. All depends on who you're going for. Just my two cents...

  • Get ripped in 30 days is a little long and not an overly catchy title. This would be great to put underneath a shorter title. Such as The Perfect Stomach: Get ripped in 30 days. That's just an idea for a title I know it wasn't one of the options you listed

Ah great thanks very much everyone.... seems as though the AbSolution and Get Ripped in 30 Days are the front runners.

Katherine, this was exactly what I was thinking the whole time. Get Ripped in 30 Days could be a slogan and a domain name, but not necessarily a product title.

And SilverPen is expressing my thoughts here. I don't want it to necessarily appeal to the bodybuilding crowd, I want it more mass market similar to P90X. They use "ripped" in their slogans, but their name is a brand for sure. Men and Women both flock to the program, from ages 30-50. The "Get Ripped" thing has proven successful for me before between 18-24 year old males, but that was for supplements, and I tend to think info products go for the older crowd.

Thanks so much guys, this is helping.

Actually IMO they all fall short because they are not descriptive enough and hard hitting...

If you can grab "Ripped Abs in 30" that might just be your best bet to cover all your bases

    Best of Luck!

You may be right, but I tend to disagree...

Virtually any bodybuilder on the planet is going to know what "ripped" means. It would be hard to escape exposure to the term since it's plastered right on the cover of almost every BB magazine.

Of course, the question is... does his target market know what it means? That's why KatherinePearlstone's suggestion may be the safe bet.

You might just be losing all the rest of the English-speaking world with it - or some of them. I've certainly heard that "What the hell is 'ripped' supposed to mean?" reaction in the UK, anyway. And not only from myself (though I'd never seen or heard of this expression at all before coming to this forum).
I'm in the UK and I've heard it used lots of times - in the press, in gyms, and on TV. You hear it a lot in US films too, so I'd say it is safe to assume it is commonly known. Though I suppose the term '6 pack' is more familiar to people.

All you will get here are opinions. Nobody knows which is best but the market. Drive some PPC traffic to a landing page and use all the names. Get at least 200 clicks each and you will have a clear winner, chosen by the market.

The truth is it doesn't matter what we think in this forum. The question is what does your market connect to?

      * MASTER TIP *

Run a Google AdWords campaign for all the headlines or titles that you want to test and see which of them gets the best clickthrough rate.

Tim Ferris decided on his book title, The 4 Hour Work Week, using that method.

LET THE MARKET DECIDE! They're the ones that matter!

I'm not sure about including 30 days in domain / product name..

First of all, getting ripped in 30 days will be mostly impossible to a lot of people that start out with a body mass index of over 30%... which seems to include one in every four Americans. Even those with BMI25% will have a really hard time.

Second, 30 days sets the prospective buyer against a ultimatum.. which can mean many different things - most of them probably negative..

One month? - oh man, that sounds like really, really hard work!
One month? - that short? what about after? I don´t have discipline - what/who will guide me? Keep me on track?
A new me in 30 days... sounds stressful.. what about weekends? what if I can´t keep up?

People are lazy - I generalize but I am pretty sure most people who buy ripped abs guides never get their abs - and they probably knew that from the beginning - but they want to know they could get them.. if they worked hard.

Including a timeframe might push these people away - and they are probably the core bulk of people with the credit cards out.

    Hey guys....

Thanks very much for all the input.

To the guys that recommended split testing names. I definitely agree with this and I have done a lot of split testing in affiliate marketing so I'm familiar with it.

The issue that comes to mind with that is the actual e-book/audio/video branding.... you'd need to have 3 versions of the product for example. Which I guess is no big deal, and I could do that relatively easy before implementing my back end process. Or you could do what Ferris talks about and when they want to buy just say we aren't taking orders (lol, even though this will be a digital product).

and ya Jason, I liked that one because it implied easiness as well.

I like the 3 step. It sounds more achievable than 30 days. 30 days sounds too good to be true.

    Hmmmmm

Very interesting problem. I'd go with providing greater definition to the market. Assuming the natural pyramid type structure of people dedicated to a market (most people are novices, few moderate, rare advanced body builders).

You (Chad) keep suggesting that you are going for the p90x crowd; this would mean that your ideal target just dwindled to those who are targeted by p90x in comparison to random people trying to lose weight.

Furthermore, you would be targeting those who have already been exposed to p90x type advertisements, which would allow you to take advantage of previously established trust by the p90x ads.

If you could exploit the previously established anchors (no, not the SEO kind) assuming your targeting the p90x crowd, you would sell wonders.

Just a thought, try 40 days. You can frame that number quite amazingly. Whereas, 30 is 1 month; 40 could be "Just 10 more days than 1 month" or "40-friggin whole days!"
