Warriors for hire copywriters ?

Man there are a few offering services on there that look pretty good and I will take them up.

But....

At least half are terrible - really one look at the sales copy samples puts me off.

The thing is some of those terrible pages may convert really well - how can you tell ?

Some great marketers have sales pages that look like crap EG:

Willie Crawford has many bland low budget looking sales pages, but we know he does well.

Bret Mcfall - jeeze just look at the sales page for BURPIES & try not to puke - yet it must convert.

I imagine if Brett was unknown and posted that page here for a review it would get trashed.

I don't think either of those guys go for fancy graphics - which being an artist more than a writer I admit I am a sucker for.

Anyway I have two books complete and another 6-7 I expect to have done by xmas

These are real books that can be sold as hard copy or ebook format - not just pdf reports.

So I need a bunch of sales copy done in the next few months - I don't have enough skill yet & wont for maybe 3-5 years.

Now I'm ranting - but who do you guys recommend & who SUX-BUTT on Warriors For Hire ?

The easy answer to this is hire one of the Montello Clan (Ross Bowring, Daniel Scott, Hans Klein, David Raybould, etc).

They won't be cheap, but they will be good.

Andrew... thanks for the mention... let me know where to PayPal the $5 :-)

Let's not forget Matt O'Conner too.

You "give great critique" yourself... so perhaps you are the man of the hour for our OP.

I knew I'd forgotten one of you - I wasn't leaving Matt out on purpose...

And thanks for your kind words, but judging by the OP's previous thread on here, he's working in a niche I left behind a decade ago... and have no desire to go back to.

Hey... let's not forget me! The leader of the Montello clan... the guy without whom there would be no clan... the original...

I still write from time to time, you know!

          LOL... just kidding around.

Thought it was funny that the guy whose clan was mentioned, was not himself mentioned.

I figured you'd either be out of the OP's price range or fully booked up.

      We're in a clan now?

      I didn't get the memo.

So does that make Vin's blog a Clanbake?

        Don't make assumptions...

The trickest trap you can fall into, online, is "assuming" something converts because someone says it does...

Most IM garbage is garbage. Videos are converting this well in IM because... well... Frank Kern told you that videos convert. So, you bought from his video.

          Hello Gareth~

I came across your thread and after going through it, out our curiosity to know more about you and your niche, I checked the link on your sig. So what is it exactly that you are promoting? Would it be fitness and the anatomy?
And why kinda market product are you trying to niche & net traffic at?

          Sounds Interesting...

    It depends.

It depends on your budget. Copywriters range greatly in their fees.

It depends on the niche your product is aimed at. No one copywriter writes exceptional copy for every single niche. There's some niches that smart copywriters choose not to write for because it's either a topic that they have a hard time understanding or it's not a topic of interest.

It depends on the type of marketing you need written. Different marketing types and media types (i.e. direct mail, webpage, radio, TV, infomercial, etc.) require different skills. Not every copywriter does all media types or does them well.

It depends on when you need the copy finished by. The more popular and in demand the copywriter, the longer you will probably need to wait until they can start your project and deliver it.

Having said that... if you want to answer those questions about your projects, it's alot easier to give you specific recommendations on who to talk to.

    Hope that helps,

    Mike

      Hi gareth,

There are many OUTSTANDING copywriters on this part of the Warrior Forum who "deliver the goods"--beyond question.

At the risk of alienating anyone, naming names I won't. It's a rather long list. But when they share here... man, you *know* they know where of they speak. They ain't just marking their territory.

I can promise you most of these folks who contribute, do so not to thump their chest or to trawl for Clients, but in a genuine desire see other marketers and business owners do well.

If I was looking for a copywriter, those would be the qualities I'd look for.

So if you're looking for a copywriter in the "Warriors for Hire" forum, I don't know about that. But I do know that people who consistently contribute on this sub-forum have a genuine desire to see you succeed.

Mike and Rick are both right.

    It depends.

You need to think about your niche/budget.

You'll probably want a copywriter with previous success in your niche.

You definitely want someone who has proven results and plenty of references so you can check them out before you drop a serious chunk of cash on a copywriter.

Just remember when you're hiring a copywriter...

You want someone who does a LOT more than just "write" for you. Pay attention to the questions they ask. Good copywriters ask good questions upfront.

They'll want to know your primary traffic sources. They'll want to know who you think your customer is and dozens of other things related to the project.

Everyone who's replied above me, as well as the "Montello Clan" mentioned (I guess Vin himself ain't bad either) are all excellent candidates...

Meaning they aren't "up and coming"... They aren't "moonlighting" as copywriters while waiting tables in between gigs. They're not offering "sales pages" in addition to $5 article packs.

    They're the real deal.

These are guys who are knee deep in direct response every day. They live, breathe and eat this business, and they're all responsible for making themselves and their clients a lot of money.

    Read through this sub-forum.

Find people who's personalities you resonate with, and get in touch with them. If a good copywriter is interested in taking on your project, they'll let you know what you need to do from there.

    Good luck!

  • You have to remember, some of the guys you've mentioned have already build a reputation. In many cases the rep sales itself. Its a lot easier to throw up crappy copy and sell to hungry buyers if you already have them in your pocket.

I would expect that there are many marketers who do very well simply because they have spent years establishing trust before they send their clients to their sales page.

Isn't that what copy is for in the first place is to establish trust?

On the other hand, If you plan on selling to a market for the first time then, you will need rock hard copy from someone that does almost nothing more than write sales copy.

Having done over 2k split test myself, I can tell you that whatever copywriter you decide to go with needs to be very skilled at pushing your clients hot buttons.

This is a skill that only comes from having first hand experience in your market or doing a LOT of research on the market you are selling to. But if the copywriter is a "dedicated" copywriter they wont have any problem spending just as much time on the research (or more) as the copy itself.
