Using Social Media To Advertise

Hey all,

I am in the midst of doing a course on Social Networking and more specifically, I am learning how to use things like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to advertise and connect.

My question is this:

Are any of you using these resources to successfully connect and find work?
Are you taking a particular approach or are you simply putting the word out and letting people find you?

Has anyone used these methods to secure big clients?

    I haven't tried using likedIn for promotions. But I heard that it gives a good traffic. I'm focusing now on facebook,twitter and stumbelupon. All you need to do is learn the best strategy.

    Me neither.. never use LinkedIn.. i have the account but i never login to the site..
    i will read about LinkedIn.. maybe i need to know something new on that site... thank you arfasaira for the post and resource provided.

      Facebook can be very reliable for sending leads to your page. However, your ads have to be a hit right off the bat or Facebook won't run them.

      For example, if you set up an ad with a $1 ppc, but nobody clicks on it, Facebook will want more and more money to keep running it. It's better to find an ad that people want to click on before you devote a lot of money to it.

    I get good results from FB and I have a linkedin and twitter...maybe even stumbleupon now. I have my twitter, fb business page and linkedin all linked together so that I can automatically update them all at the same time. It makes my life easier. I am redoing my blog, so I am learning to work with stumbleupon.

      I use Twitter, Linkedin - Groups, and Facebook - Fan Page and Group, all works for me.
