    Jason,

Your forum nickname is on point if you choose to go this route: that is, you'll need a lot of luck to convert email marketing into sales. That, or high volume of pre-approved leads. Phone "when necessary" will probably be a better way for you to spend your time trying to earn money.

    Best Regards,

I suggest getting out there and meeting people face to face. Target groups of people who are likely to need your services such as healthcare professionals like chiropractors, dentists, Dr's etc.

Also, have you tried direct mail campaigns? Im doing one now and just in process of getting everything together. At the barest minimum, you should use postcard marketing with an incentivized message on it (for example, you could offer a free report they can download from your website that solves one of their problems etc) and offer a free marketing consultation.

Ive also ordered a huge bag of seeds from ebay and tiny envelopes to go with it. Put some seeds in the envelope and put a decorative sticker on the front saying: Let us grow your business.

Mail this out with your postcard.

Finally, I really suggest you get yourself to local business events in your city - chamber of commerce always has them, but there are others too. Be inventive and professional at all times. More often than not, a warm smile and some freebies usually does the trick.

      best of luck!

One thing you should do is to make getting referrals an integral part of your business.

When you first make your proposal, let the prospect know that you get paid in 2 ways...through monetary compensation and through referrals. That, if you are able to help the prospect, that you expect to receive referrals just as much as you expect to receive your fee.

If you start off on that foot, it will be easier to ask for referrals after the client is happy with you.

You might even want to come out and say that you expect a certain number of introductions when you are successful.

        Hope this helps

E-mail marketing(just like Direct Mail marketing) can actually be very effective if it's properly targeted. Look for an e-mail list broker that lets you define your list by certain characteristics, such as interest, in your case website development or internet business, and if possible try to get a list with income as a filter, as selling your services to people who dream of getting rich online and subscribe to newsletters and the like is fine, but if they are still working for minimum wage, they may not be able to afford you and your campaign will be wasted. Realize also when getting a list, that it really is a numbers game, if you get a list of 5,000 email addresses, for $20, even with the perfect demographic, and if you get past the spam filters, only about 5-10% will even open the e-mail, and of those, only 1 or 2 % will be interested, and then your selling average comes into play. This could mean out of your list of 5,000, you got 5 prospects, and if you have a 20% close rate, you can get 1 customer. Seems lousy doesn't it. But, buy a list of a million(this may cost you 4 or 500 dollars) and your new client list goes up to 200, base math used of course, which means you now have a deep pipeline to get referrals and new prospects from. Hope that helps you understand a little better.

    Jasonsluck,

My suggestion would be this: if you're certain you want to MAINLY work email marketing, try to encourage your prospects to give you a call as soon as possible. If you implement an irresistible offer with the requirement of calling you (the idea here is to personally pitch, but you might need practice before you get good at it), you'll sell well.

You're on the right track however...

I don't think your approach is going to grab much interest. What you need to do is to up your game. Try and be a little more creative, use your imagination, be outrageous!

When a piece of direct mail comes through the letter box, one of three things will happen.

Your direct mail will either go in the...

      A/ Pile

      The B/ Pile

      Or, the C/ Pile

The C/ Pile is junk, discarded instantly and put out for recycling, for that's as much good as it's going to do anyone.

The B/ Pile looks slightly more interesting, maybe I'll have a look at this later. Incidentally yours will end up in one of these two.

And then there is the A/ Pile. This direct mail needs to be opened immediately. It's grabbing my interest, what's inside, this looks really different. I must open it now.

But how do you get your direct mail into the A/ Pile? The pile that commands attention and tells you to open it up instantly, without delay?

This is obviously what you want your potential prospects to do. The last thing you want, is for them to put it in the B/ or worse C/ Pile.

First, I very strongly suggest to you that you buy yourself a copy of the book by Dan Kennedy's business partner Bill Glazer - Outrageous Advertising that's Outrageously Successful

Now, back to the drawing board for you...

Write down on a sheet of paper, 10 outrageous direct mail advertising ideas that veritably command your target audience to open up your mail immediately, without delay.

I'm afraid a few seeds with the tagline; Let Us Grow Your Business... just isn't going to cut it. Guaranteed... this will not get you high conversions if it is opened and read at all.

      Don't be gimmicky.

      Don't follow the herd.

Don't imagine for a second this is the best idea you can come up with.

Think outside of the box. Look at other industries around you, the world is brimming with marketing ideas everywhere you look.

See what looks like it might work well for your particular campaign and swipe the idea into your own niche... it's called swipe and deploy.

I'm not suggesting you steal ideas and apply them within the same niche, this wouldn't be right. Take your ideas from another industry and adapt the idea to your own marketing needs.

Now you have a direct mail advertising campaign you can be proud of and don't forget OUTRAGEOUS gets seen and opened every time over dead beat boring ideas.

Good luck, let me know how you get on.

Nobody reads huge chunks of text.

Try splitting up your paragraphs into smaller segments, use white space to increase reader pleasure. Information will be a lot easier to digest if you learn how to split up your paragraphs.

No more than 3-5 sentences per paragraph. Use a mixture of shorter and longer sentences to command attention.

Sorry, was sleepy and writing more from a stream of thought than concerning myself with the visual aspect of writing. Thank you very much for the advice and I will remember it in the future.
