The PROBLEM is, I'm simply not getting enough traffic to the sales pages to be able to test conversions properly. I make a sale every two days usually, and that is with the traffic being SPLIT between 2-3 different versions of the sales page with Google Web Optimizer.

That means it's taking me a few weeks before I know the results of my testing properly, since I need to make sure I get enough sales to see that the change I made was obvious or not.

Right now I get my traffic from SEO (but that's mostly going towards the blog, which is directed towards the sales page), as well as a bit from PPC, articles, youtube, and a few other.

I'm wondering how can I drive A LOT of traffic faster so I can test things better? Making a change to my sales letter, then waiting 2-3 weeks to test it seems like a very slow process to increase conversions.

    Thoughts?

I might have to resort to amping up PPC for testing.
A client and I are testing a product's price point and market perception by posting it for review on some forums in that category.

"Hey, does this look legit to you guys?"

And they come back and say, "Man, do you see the price on that thing?"

        or

"Yeah, right. That line "blank" tells me it's total BS."

An easy way to test is direct feedback from your target market.

        Just a thought,

Out of curiosity, would you make sure you're a member of the forum for a few days or weeks and have a certain number of post before doing this?

I'm just thinking that sometimes the mods will delete the thread.
You don't necessarily have to. I have had my accounts deleted before/posts removed... But still got a fair number of responses.

However, if you would like to stay there and continue to gather information for the future when doing research... Yeah, I would make a few posts contributing information and being part of the community first. I've had better, long term results doing this.

Last point: if you word it correctly, like you're not trying to sell something... especialy if you open an account and use a different name for the forum (not the name on your website)... you won't have a problem.

            Take this for example:

            "Hey everybody,

I'm fairly new to this forum and so far... there's a lot of great stuff! You all seem to really know what you're doing/know a lot about <blank>.

Anyway, I was searching the web the other day and found this <product link.>

I'm not sure what to think of it. Can anybody else take a look and give me your opinion?"

Of course, it also helps to know someone, personally, from the market who can read the letter.

            Best,

            Angel

      Hi, Jack

Using ad swaps for traffic is a great idea, especially in IM where the clicks are so expensive, and Google is really clamping down.

I may be showing my inexperience, but I hadn't heard of that before.

I would think the traffic is not as targeted, though. Is that correct?

I would like to hear your thoughts on that. (not required, though)

      Thanks for your help

The fastest solution is PPC. Try bing or yahoo, since sometimes the price of the clicks is much lower then in Adwords. On the other hand I have great success getting traffic from youtube, but have in mind that the traffic that comes from youtube is not as targeted as the one from Adwords. In simple words, if you need 100 visits from youtube to your site to make sale, with Adwords you might need 40. At the end of the day you want to test conversions with targeted traffic.
