What prevents a client from stopping or asking for a refund after you deliver his copy to his satisfaction. Is there a way in paypal to stop a client from ripping you off?

The biggest prevention is that most people are honest. If you screen your clients, it is highly unlikely that they are going to rip you off.

Yes...it is a service. If someone opens a dispute, all you need to do is respond to it that it was a service and PayPal will automatically side with you. There is no buyer protection for services.

That won't protect you from a chargeback, of course.

Its a digital product - a service - not a physical product - so the buyer isn't covered. But they can lockdown your Paypal account by filing a dispute. Has only happened to me once and PayPal gave me the right royal runaround. I kept getting so-called Support people in India. Took 6 weeks to resolve - in my favor - but only after I contacted someone in PayPal Ireland and she fixed it in minutes. The sent me a branded pen and some other crap for my trouble. PayPal are a horror-show to deal with when you have problems.

Make sure you keep records of EVERYTHING - emails, Skype calls - everything.

I agree with Marigot although I have been ripped off myself by some savory warriors. If you ask for a down payment you will usually be able to weed out those who are likely to not pay or dispute.

Take a downpayment and if its a huge sales letter or an e-book, run a few pages or a mini-draft past the client and get his approval - or tie in a stipulated number of re-works to the contract or a number of days to request a rewrite - keep you safeguarded....
