Do you think video copy will replace text copy?

It's quite evident that people are using video sales letters more and more as opposed to text copy, seeing that nowadays it's so easy for the common person to produce a video and upload it online. You can also see this happening with all the guru using video with product launches these couple of years.

I'm not saying that video will complete take over. Just like television news hasn't eliminated newspapers. But do you think as videos become even more viable for the common person to make, that it would eventually become the mainstream method of making sales? Just like tv ad Vs. text ad.

I'm not talking about completely replacing it, but about video becoming the mainstream rather than text, just like how there's more people who watch tv than read the newspaper.

Video will never replace the written word. However, it is a viable, proven and effective tool in marketing.

Whatever you decide to do - TEST it first...

Text only... Video Only... Text & Video... etc.

Testing will always deliver a final verdict in the court of last resorts.

Video copy and products may convert better depending on the market. You'd have to test.

Don't more people watch TV than read books, daily? Doesn't the movie version of a book normally make more money?

I think you should be using all forms of communication. And copy with the word is just as important as what you're saying in the video.

Testing will get you some real, solid, answers...

It won't totally replace copy, but it will compliment it.

The video can be used to trigger interest, but the video won't be able to answer or address all of the questions that the visitor has--and that's where the copy will further convince them to go ahead and pull out the credit card and buy.

Not until people stop reading their letter in front of a camera and do infomercial style video.

Lots of companies sell through both. It's a false choice to pick one or the other. You could, for instance, use a video to generate leads you then sell with a text based letter.

It works well for certain markets. I don't think it will ever replace text online (obviously not offline)

I'd say that the two will always be used together, especially to get the best results.

A page with just a video on it can work (generally though it only works well if you've got a list of subscribers that take action such as Frank Kern does). Text makes it much easier for people to get their sites ranked highly on search engines. Obviously video helps with this too if the subject matter is relevant but I beleive that you will never see one or the other being replaced.

Either people will only use text or they will use both in my opinion.

I personally don't watch videos, I'm at home with two children and it's quicker and more convenient to scan a sales letter to see if it grabs me, than to sit down and watch a video. I've never purchased anything from a video sales letter. Everybody has different preferences though.

Hard-copy sales letters rock. You can read them anywhere. Video copy, you need to have the proper viewing tool connected to the proper site.

And hard-copy makes your readers say the words inside their heads... kind of like they are talking to themselves using your words.

Video feeds the message to you passively. Your mind is free to roam if you like; the words spoken aloud do not necessarily get echoed inside your own head.

And whenever I land on a site that starts with video/audio/music... I motorgate away from there as fast as I possibly can! You see, I expect words and and graphics. Give me the unexpected and yep - I'm startled. And I leave fast.

Could it possibly be that other online prospects have the same reaction??
Are you willing to take that chance??

      Hope this helps,
      Dot

Majority prefers to watch videos but we cant ignore text as well. Both are effective and important media and one cant capture another position.

Why think in terms of "replacement" rather than "enhancement" since
neither will REPLACE the other. The same as your eyes won't replace
your ears. It's good to study trends but these trends are normally
      "additions" rather than subtraction.

And some people still prefer to read. The real pull of video is that they
engage so many more of the senses but reading forces your BRAIN to
be more ACTIVE and engaged in what you are learning.

In my opinion the written word is still king. The videos are great for driving traffic to your web site. (Example:U-tube) I use videos for the technical stuff that I find very boring to read.

If you're in Internet Marketing, you need make sure you're covering the territory. So use every tool that you need to achieve that goal, because that is what it all about.

Video does have a place in marketing, but it won't replace the written word. People absorb information in different ways. While video usually enhances a sales page, I rarely watch. Instead I scan the text to see if it's something I want.

Where I think video excels is for training purposes. I love watching video training. It brings lessons to life in a way written manuals don't.

Both video and text have their place. Use them to complement each other.

I doubt it. Videos can be useful, but they are too time consuming in many instances or just boring.

I think internet video will and does complement internet text very well, but only if the video serves the purpose of showing something that without images is difficult to convey.

Video that just shows 'talking heads' telling you something doesn't make much sense and is largely ignored - audio is the right medium for that, especially if it can be downloaded to a portable device that you take along to other activities that don't take much of your mental attention.
