Any Suggestions for a Good Copywriter?

I have a sales page that I have written myself. At this point, I have ZERO sales from my Pay Per Click campaign.

I think my copy is just not converting visitors into buyers. Does anyone know of a good copywriter that I could hire to take my existing content and turn it into something that sells my product? It would also be nice if that same person could recommend graphics along with the text. I can create the graphics myself. Thanks!

    What's your market, budget etc.?

you need to give more information. Not all
copywriters work in the same market and in
the same price range, so you can get better
responses if you reveal a little more.

Hi Ray. I think my market might be the problem as well. I haven't yet figured out who to market to! I am selling an ebook and access to a video tutorial library. The book teaches anyone with basic PowerPoint skills to develop elearning. Basically, it teaches and shows people how to become an elearning pro.

So I don't know if I target people looking for new careers, people who search elearning in the search engines, students looking to go to trade schools, etc.

At first I hadpretty straight copy about the benefits of elearning but after reading a few copywriting books I completely changed the look and feel to try and appeal to people who are looking for jobs. I don't think that worked well at all. I feel i'm actually worse off now...

Your situation is tricky. In that there are plenty of people who might be interested in your product, and for many different reasons. It's often best to target one group at a time and create different marketing materials for each group.

Shoot me a PM if you'd like and I'll ask you some questions to try and narrow down your market.

        Cheers,

Stephen, I have searched for books like mine on Google and I have yet to find one. That is either good because there is no competition or bad because there is no interest in the subject.

I tried to direct message you but I can't until I get 50 posts. Any other way I can reach you?

Well, since you are not inventing a new market you should be
able to find a competitor to gauge your product market.

Who are selling stuff similar to yours? Who are they selling to?

If you don't settle this in your mind then at least your copywriter
        has to.

Ray, I'm not sure anyone is selling a product similar to mine. I have searched and have yet to find one. I've searched Google and Clickbank and nothing...

            Hi John,

What you are experiencing is a common mistake of putting the cart before the horse.

What I mean is that you haven't found a starving crowd first.

            Next you create their solution.

Once you find your starving crowd, it becomes much easier for you, or pro copywriter, to come up with the ad.

My suggestion is for you to find that group first before you move forward.

            Best,
            Ewen

In doing research, I focus on five main areas and drill down according:

              Keyword research

Market research (meaning who specifically wants what I have to offer)

              Competitor research

              Product research

              Offer research

Your premise that prospects would look up what you have to offer is unfortunately flawed. "Elearning" is not the only thing prospects will use to find you. There are more. Many, many more.

              Read this for instance:

E-learning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And then look at ALL the acronyms and buzzwords. Then Google those. Create a spreadsheet. You'll be amazed. Some of your competitors are bidding on more than 3600 keywords in AdWords alone.

Based upon what I see, there's lots of competition, and you should have no problems finding competitors.

              Good luck,

              - Rick Duris

              What he said.

You can't sell people something they don't want. You can trick them into believing they want it, but that's not legal.

First you find a group of people who would practically trample their grandma to get a benefit.

Then you create the product or service that delivers that benefit.

Then you get a sales message that connects with that group of people.

You missed step one... Finding the hungry market and understanding them.

There are a bunch of skilled copywriters active on this forum.

Approach one of two and ask if they'd be interested in working
with you. Many are adequately skilled here to improve a
letter you wrote yourself with no previous experience. Work
with somebody you like who seems to have time for you and
who asks good questions about your business and what you
want to achieve. That's what I'd do.

If you make a cattle call advertising your budget, you'll probably
get scolded if it's low, or deluged with emails from writers
who want your money if it's not.

I appreciate the reply Loren. What's the best way to go about finding copywriters on this forum?

There are several online tutorials for learning PowerPoint application. So in what way you are different and what is the special thing you cater compared to other tutorials. E-learning is no longer a new concept and it is common everywhere. We can even find blogs with the steps to learn PowerPoint and various other applications. Concentrate on the factors like presentation, content and user-friendliness. See it from a customer’s point of view and identify the drawbacks in your site and workout. Don’t worry; you’ll get your goals achieved.
