Help With Landing Page - Opt-In Rate

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum but I have used it a lot in the past for tips so thought I would come here first to ask this.

Our site 5weightlosstips.com has an optin rate of just 15%... How can we increase this!? We've been split testing sequentially now for about a week and it hasn't had much effect. The page isn't your typical landing page, as it needs to comply with Google Content Network policies on landing pages... i.e. unique content, disclaimers etc. Which automatically harms our optin rate - but it shouldn't be this low.

If anyone could have a look and suggest improvements to the copy/layout/graphics it would be much appreciated. Also does anyone know a way to A/B split test from adwords with image ads? Because I have a feeling sequential testing is not the best way to go.

Thanks in advance

    Too many competing elements.

The opt-in competes with the video...

...and my eye is drawn to the big '5' in the top left corner.

You should have one dominant element... your headline... which is your big promise for reading further and even joining the list.

You don't have flow... you have a road block.

Readers won't work that hard... they will simply click next.

Make your site easy for the prospect to read and stay engaged.

The prospect will always take the path of least resistance... and at this time, it's the close site button.

Try putting your opt-in box in the middle of the page rather than right next to the video. As outofthisword stated above, you have it competing against your video.

Also, reduce the size of your body text and break it up more. It's just big blocks of text which isn't reader friendly.

Cool, thanks guys. The video isn't actually a video, its a javascript rollover image, which changes to instructions on how to get the free video, pointing to the optin form. We found the video wasn't converting as much because it distracted from the optin form, as you mentioned...
We are now considering reducing the size of this rollover image, and placing the optin form next to it rather than having it on the side of the page. Do you think this will work better?

Any more suggestions from anyone else would be a huge help, thanks.
