Here's How To Get Lots Of "Recommended" Clients Quickly...

It’s just an idea – but it’s worked extremely well for me.

Contact – it’s best to send a pitch – (often they immediately recontact you) but if necessary follow it up with a phone call and get an appointment with the Ad Managers at your local papers.

Tell them you’re a professional freelance Copywriter and show that you can genuinelly improve any Ad in the paper.

They’ll have an “in house” department that “helps” write Ads – but (and obviously don’t say this) they are often a bit lacklustre. They tend to be graphics people not copywriters.

Worst still, if the client writes their own copy – it’ll be missing most if not all of the vital techniques in making the Ad work well.

Just look at the majority of the Ads in the papers and you'll see what I mean.

Usually the Ad managers are delighted that you can enhance the Ads and get much better results.

It means a lot more revenue for the papers and the Ad reps love the repeat business.

Chances are you’ll be recommended to existing and potential clients.

Now, initially you might not charge big money for writing a 1 page, ½ page, ¼ page or display or semi display Ads.

The paper will prefer to mention you as an “extra special” service – without costing the client a fortune.

But when the client sees the boost in response – it opens the door to many other gigs.

Bigger ads, sales letters, websites...

It’s very possible to turn a $250 - $500 client into a $10,000 plus client remarkably quickly.

And you can do this time and time again.

    Steve, not only is this a good idea, but I used to do this!....

    Years ago when I was getting started, I befriended a couple managers of ad sales depts in smaller newspapers in my area. I did it more by accident, than with a plan.

    I was already stopping in to their offices quite often and just got to know them. One day, out of the blue, I get a call from one of their advertising customers wanting my help to make their ad pull better. They had been referred to me by the advertising sales dept of one of the local papers!...and a new lead source was born....which I benefited from for many years>
