Start by reading the great copywriting books listed in the thread at the top of the copywriting section of the Warrior Forum.

Write a number of successful sales letter by hand to get a feeling for copywriting.

Study the most recent thread that has great tips for beginning copywriters.

Plus, read some books on how to run a copywriting business, such as The Wealthy Freelancer.

Hardly a viable option... the first post in that thread lists 60+ books.

      Start with these three...

      1. The Ultimate Sales Letter, 3rd Edition (2006), by Dan Kenney, $10.18

      2. Web Copy That Sells, 2nd Edition (2009), by Maria Veloso, $14.93

      3. Ca$hvertising, 1st Edition (2008), by Drew Eric Whitman, $10.19

Each can be found at amazon.com.

You always seem to have a negative response, Alex. Obviously, I was not suggesting that he read each book in the thread in the next week. Your responses always give me a chuckle!!

          It wasn't obvious to me.

As a copywriter, it's important to be careful with words. Your meaning should always be clear.

If I wanted your advice, I can assure you I would have asked for it.

BTW, I don't want your advice. I believe these words should be clear.

If you want to get into copywriting then reading some books can help but the most important thing you can do is write A LOT. You should write so much that you communicate just as easily as when you're speaking, if not better.

The real secret to copywriting is that it isn't so much about writing as it is about communicating. You need to be able to effectively communicate ideas and emotions to your reader, writing is simply how we do it. Sure, there are certain formats and techniques that make copy more effective but it all comes down to communicating those ideas and emotions.

If you want some experience getting paid to write for clients then I'd suggest you try doing some article writing. I think it's a good way to get a feel for working with clients, managing time and writing about things that you may find to be extremely boring. There is a lot more to it than just writing. If you have trouble finding clients you can always start at Textbroker.

                Anyway, good luck!

My advice would be not to waste too much time on the little things, and just identify exactly what you need to start making money and practicing as a copywriter and go for it... Don't spend hours figuring out your logo designs, or what your business cards need to look like.

I'd follow up on all that by getting into
the habit of reading and writing a lot.

Your post here hints that you're not
    too comfortable with writing.

That'll need to change if you want to
    make words your business.

    Good luck with it.

There're many reasons for being in business as a copywriter. CW Business gives sense of belonging. I feel happy when my business is helping other business to grow. There isn't need searching for products to sell. Your words are your products and services. It's the most profitable way to know how and when to sell. It's nice playing around with customers' buying decision. There is the opportunity to work from anywhere. It'll enable me have control and influence on how people should feel about me. Much more the joy of inproving the living with my writing skill plus being paid for just writing. I feel like joining the league of top players in the industry in due time.

If you are serious about learning how to write copy, especially kick-ass copy, then study the following page:

P.S: I can't actually post the link here since i don't have enough posts.

Google this, and then follow the first result: "the gary halbert letter hands on experience"
