Here's one my favorite's from my Gary Halbert swipe file ...

This was a full page ad in a Florida newspaper calling for "Every Attractive Women In Miami Who Is Serious About Having A Career As A Professional Model"

Okay, so who can resist reading this to find out more? (Not me ... and I'm not a women ... nor model material)

Have you even been to South Beach? It's seems to be a magnet for attractive women (at least the last time I was there). And how many do you think have ever dreamed - even for a fleeting moment - about becoming a model?

Then - just to keep you off balance - once you start reading Gary starts telling all the reasons why you WON'T make it as a model.

Honestly I'm not really sure what the TRUE business model was here (though Gary does give one in the copy).

You've gotta read this copy, it's just great.

Here's the - in the open - link to this classic Gary Halbert copywriting example to add to you personal swipe file.

Enjoy!

Great swipe. Thanks! But just an FYI: my download doc name said "sugarman_seminar_brochure.pdf" So I'm not sure if this is a Halbert or a Sugarman. Either way, it's great copy!

That's only because you are not the target market.

Two paragraphs on the anatomy of a goat would be two long for me to read because I don't care about goats.

Where was the money in this business model? I'm not sure...the ad is for women to qualify as models in the newsletter (pics provided by one Mr Kevin Halbert LOL), but the backend seemed to be a newsletter the modeling industry paid a lot of money to subscribe to. But most people probably suspect top modeling agencies don't find models in marketing newsletters...so I'm guessing at some point the potential "models" ended up paying for something somewhere, right?

The back end is probably an expensive photo package for the aspiring model's use as a portfolio, taken by his son.

I forget how this story ends... Did Gary ever get a date/girlfriend from this ad?

    great share!!!

I had the fortunate time to actually spend with Gary when he stayed in costa rica for some eye surgery work. I will never forget the eye opening experience when he was involved working on the creative process with my friend and I came in and they had all these papers on the floor.

talking about girls and eating rice and black beans.

    thanks

    eddie

ps. gary did get a lot of responses from the ad and he had a relationship for a while. but in the end he found a beautiful latin girl from costa rica hence his stay here. he wrote alot about her later in life.
