What do you recommend clients use to track marketing?

Hey gang,

Just curious what you all use (and recommend your clients use) when it comes to tracking the results of marketing efforts.

I'm thinking of recommending an Excel sheet (since thats what I use), but wonder if that might be too "technical" for some clients?

I considered just putting together a Microsoft Word document they could fill in, but ideally it would be a tracking solution that is easily sortable my most effective efforts etc.

I'm leaning towards just doing Excel and spending time explaining how to use it with them...but does anyone use any other tracking solutions?

This isn't really a Copywriting related question, but I would use or recommend Prosper202.

It's doesn't matter what you use, as long as you use something. Compliance is key. The right solution is the one your client will actually keep up with.

A couple of times in the past I've set up fancy spreadsheets, but I always gravitate back to an eight or twelve column ledger book. Something about writing results by hand just appeals to me.

    Full disclosure: I'm old.

I guess you could use something like Infusionsoft combined with a finance tracking app like Indinero.

Edit: After taking a closer look at Infusionsoft it seems that you can track pretty much everything with it, when it comes to sales, clicks, responses etc...

It depends on what exactly you want to track and how big are your marketing campaigns.

Btw...mind sharing a copy of your spreadsheet(blank )?, just curios to see how you track your business in Excel.
