Healthy Client/Copywriter Relationships Are Vital to Make Money...

The thread “hiring a copywriter for sales page” by Scoke demonstrates a common theme for both entrepreneurs and copywriters alike.

When a potential copywriting client wants some sort of guarantee from me that I’ll convert wildly in exchange for their upfront payment, I’ll usually put it right back on them.

“How confident are you in your product?”

“Do you wholeheartedly believe in the value of your service?”

“Tell me about your story… How were you inspired to invent this software system?”

When I can shift the focus from the expectation of manifesting a certain ROI to honing in upon the product or service – and the inspiration behind it – I can more clearly determine from an initial consultation if our working together is mutually beneficial…

What a lot of entrepreneurs don’t get is how valuable their experiences are to sell their product or service.

If a copywriter can't use your experiences in the copy because you're too focused on making money… in a hurry...and can't communicate this essential 411... you won’t make money.

My opinion…

The more genuine emotion you can pour into your marketing, the bigger and more profound your ROI.

Likewise, REAL stories sell like mad!

Investing in killer copywriter – you can co-create a healthy, collaborative relationship with – is like finding a slot machine that wins every time.

You'd want to put as much money as you could into that slot machine, wouldn't you?

It should be a given that adjustment is a necessity once a sales page or website is done and quality traffic is driven its way.

Whether your copywriter is getting a taste of the back-end or not, it’s still in everyone’s best interest to generate the most financially prosperous results for both parties.

Reputation is an asset for any copywriter.

Your financial results can either add to a copywriter’s reputation or kill it.

Duh!

At the end of the day, it’s about quality solutions and a respectful client/copywriter relationship that determines the success of a sales letter of web copy…

Powerful relationships demand effortless communication.

The pursuit of money can often sabotage this crucial communication.

Make sure you keep that in mind when approaching copywriters – here or anywhere else – to perform awesomely on your behalf.

Cheers!

I find most sides of this discussion to be excuses.

Yeah, you're not always gonna hit a home run. And yes, some packages are more risky than others... once you're trying to beat established controls.

But a copywriter worth his salt should know enough about both copywriting and human desires to convert on a piece for his client.

    Period.

    That's my opinion.

What you're talking about is a given... any killer copywriter should produce campaigns that convert more times than not.

However, when you work with entrepreneurs who created something truly original, they are an asset to derive all kinds of fantastic, first-hand information.

I'm interested in producing authentic copy that sells... not just the same old recycled blah blah blah.

I'm honestly shocked at how few copywriters take the time to get to know their client's visions... which takes awesome communication, mutual respect, clearly defined financial agreements and the ability to take feedback without reacting from ego.

I guess we just value different kinds of clients and/or viable, original solutions.

      Period.

One more thing to get my last point across...

When Obama (or any President) has a speech written for him, it has to encompass the tone and genuine emotion he organically conveys.

The amount of collaboration that takes place between the President and his staff is awe-inspiring - yup, for even a low-level speech.

It goes without saying that when a direction is chosen, it's the copywriter responsibility to draft, craft and perfect it.

But do you really think all of this happens without feedback and collaboration?

    Really?

In this case, the President has to feel confident his writers can convey his vision so the American people buy it.

Politics is just sales, like everything else.

It's a massive collaborative sales event that never, ever stops.

And complain as we will, we still buy.

Without the collaboration of the president and his extensive staff, the sales affect wouldn't pack nearly as much as punch to hook us.

...Our clients should be incredibly grateful for us to take so much invested interest in their success by getting to know them, their visions, their products and services...

...We should get paid and paid well for this...

..And yes, we should care tremendously about converting for them and doing what's necessary to get there.

Take the blue pill if you agree with me!

...or is it the red pill?
