Whats next after long form sales letters?

Will there be any format/style/method that will convert as well as long form sales letter pages have over time?

To me, it seems people have been trained to know long form sales letters can be (but not always) scammish/low quality...but what to replace it with?

Thanks!

Most times, video sales letters are converting better now-a-days. No reason to think that won't continue for a good, long time.

I don't agree with your basic assumption, though. Sure, some people consider long form sales letters scammish, but certainly not all. In fact, long form copy... both online and offline... continues to do very well.

Remember... people with problems are looking for solutions. The more intense the problem, the less they care about the sales medium.

I've been playing with the idea as re-branding my copywriting services into a video copywriter considering the boost in conversions we've seen from the modle lately. I do have video creation experience, and "real-time" copy I believe provides many additional persuasion opportunities to long form sales letters.

A good piece of copy can go for $5,000 to $20,000 -- and I don't see a video which is only usable in certain media outlets going for that. Although the time to invest in a good video production may be on par with a long form sales letter, and so I've hit a personal objection to totally committing to this.

But I would summarize by confirming what Alex has said.

It's a good market. Go for it.

It's easier to sell video to a client than copy (unless the client is already in direct mail).

It's not unusual to get $5K to $25K for a decent sales video (all done) or for around $30 to $60K for a launch sequence (and a cut of the profits on top of that).

Yes, you'll get a lot of people who want you to work for peanuts, but they never make good clients anyway.

You should definitely be able to find takers.

Those prices are not outrageous and a good marketer who writes good script and copy could get a fairly good team of technicians to work for you.

      Warm Regards,

Long form sales letters are here to stay. They evolved into magalogs a long time ago in some niches and are still plain long form ads in some.

While you can put a DVD in an envelope - it does cause delay and its asking for too many actions from the receiver.

Assuming you know that direct mail is still kicking the pants off of online sales? (and I'm assuming you know why because its obvious).

Online video is also evolving - some people actually have the brains to get a good copywriter (although a lot less than most people assume).

A good long-form sales letter is more fun to read than anything else out there (Certainly more interesting than your PPC ad) or CPA landing page.

Don't know if you've seen it but long-form video has also been done - quite successfully too ... and ... it uses a LOT of copywriting elements (although there is video production and effects and music too).

And of course ANYTHING can feel scammy - even videos (hint: Magic push button money spitters that you can find a $39 pimp for).

In terms of scamminess, even your average used car salesman with a rat hairdo does quite a good job.
