Kids niche: Printable masks sales copy help

Hi, I'm kinda stuck really and would just like a bit of advice so please be blunt and tell it like it is if you've got the time.

I created a site called masketeers where people can download printable masks books for kids to make and play. It's aimed at parents, teachers and kids and it gets around 8000 visitors a month.

I'm getting a sale roughly every 250 visits which is pretty poor so I'm thinking the sales copy and layout or whatever could do with a rethink. I haven't had a refund request since I started a few months back and the feedback has been really good. So I don't think it's the actual product just my dodgy sales page.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me a few pointers so I can get going in the right direction.

Love the look of your site. Add just a few elements and it might really fly.

    1) SHOW adorable kids wearing the masks and having fun. That has huge emotional impact for parents, especially mothers.

    2) SHOW how easy it is to print and cut out the masks. No special tools, or skills.

    3) SHOW kids having fun coloring and decorating the masks.

    4) Invoking nostalgia would be very powerful here. Most people have fond memories of playing dress-up, wearing masks and pretending. Tug on those old, warm feelings. It's what you should lead with. "Remember how much fun you had....blah blah blah...." Get a wistful smile to break across their lips and you have them.

"Remember the days when you couldn't finish the breakfast cereal fast enough so you could get that cool mask on the back cut out and on your face? Well now kids don't need gobble up all the cereal as we've got an unlimited supply of cool, fun masks that are ready to cut out at the click of a button!"

Would something like this do as a header?

Not as the headline, but as the first paragraph. But yes, something like that.

The cereal box experience is probably not universal enough. Talk about wearing a mask...the fun they had....pretending. Use two or three sentences to do it, then transition into the product.

Alternatively, tell a story about masks from your own childhood and how you created this product so your own kids can have that same kind of fun. Story copy is probably the easiest way to go for a non-copywriter. Stories hold attention and make you a real person in the mind of the reader, not just an anonymous guy hawking masks.

Also...it would help to remove the "Whole Collection Only $19" and "Buy Now Instant Download" graphics from the top of the page. They are premature....like trying to kiss a girl you have just been introduced to. You have to establish value and trust before you go there.

          Ok great thanks.

I put the "Whole Collection Only $19" and "Buy Now Instant Download" in as someone said I should get this in above the fold as he said it wasn't too clear what the site was selling. I kinda thought it was a bit presumptuous too but he said teachers and parents were busy and would want to know before reading all the way to the bottom.

    Thanks...

Yeah I gotta get some pics done a bit more professionally. I took some of my lad and his mates larking about with them but the pics were a bit amateurish. The father in law's got a pro camera so he's gonna have a go next week.

For number 2 shall I do this as a video showing the whole process from download to kids face?

Thanks for the ideas I'll get on to it!

I would definitely go with the "I made theses for my kids" storyline. It's so easy to write and make believable. Most of it is true anyway, right? I would consider maybe doing that on a video showing kids having fun with the masks.

Also, I would put "The biggest collection of printable masks on the internet." under the logo. "All for fun and fun for all" is clever but clever doesn't sell. After reading the whole thread and then going to your site, for a while I was wondering if this is the correct site, because I could find quickly what the site is about. If you have a high bounce rate, this might help.

Hi Thanks for the reply. Ok I'll bring the reason why I started the site in the about section onto the sales page then. It's all true anyways so it should be believable like you say.

Thanks for the other suggestions too.
