Writing to sell yourself- Fiverr

I am more interested in advice than anything else.

Is there any sites or people on here that can help with writing good, short introductions for one's own service on Fiverr?

I decided to bite the bullet and put my service up, and not entirely sure if my description is good enough or anything so I want to hear from others if there is any tips or techniques on how to present yourself in a favourable way on Fiverr.

And no, my service doesn't have to do with writing or anything. It deals with creating a video, but just want to see if there is any helpful sites out there or people who know of information that is freely obtainable.

(This deals with copywriting, so I assume this is the correct category) ^__^

First, it would help if we could see your gig.

But here are a few general ideas:

    1) keep it short and sweet, explain what you're offering in a couple hundred words or less. you don't need a "smokin' hot sales letter" to convince someone to part with $5, a few relevant bullet points should suffice.

    2) if your service involves making a video, then use a video sales pitch to promote the service. use the exact same kind of video you offer as a service to promote your service (kills two birds with one stone in that it gets the point across and also shows off the relevant skillZ)

    3) if you have any testimonials from satisfied customers, maybe include a few of them.

Sarah, to avoid blatant self promotion, I won't link to it here...however, if you scroll down through the threads, and find the thread entitled something like "Post Card from Kuwait", you'll find a good write-up or two that others had provided me with. If you can bypass the political discussion that ensued, you be able to capture a few gold nuggets from the 'copy' that I adopted for my Fiverr gig.

It's important to somehow try to instill a sense of urgency.

Thank you for the helpful advice and yes, I didn't link my service because I didn't want to seem like I am promoting myself. I am just interested in some helful advice.

But thanks for wanting to help or pointing me in the right direction. It's much appreciated!

    • Hi Sarah,

Think deeply about your “target” audience.

      What do they really want?

How and why will they get this from you.

And tell them. Write in the way they like to read.

So they’ll relate to you. And you'll resonate with them. They'll like you.

You could find your “hook” - the tantalizing, irresistible, intriguing (or sometimes unusual but very alluring) part of your service.

The “benefit” "result" or “emotion” that makes it different, interesting and absolutely desirable.

And use that in your headline.

Reading between the lines your fiverr promo looks like you’ll be doing it from the “heart” – maybe it’s artistic, unique and of course personally customized.

If I’m way off course on this I do apologize.

But if I’m right just fire that "cupids" arrow directly at your readers.

They now know they must have what you do.

Because it'll bring them exactly what they emotionally need.

      Hope this helps,

      Steve
