Can someone suggest a copywriter for 2 pages of my site?

I am in the process of re-writing my site and require 2 main pages to be re-written.

I have thrown some copy in there but it is boring, focussed on our service instead of the benefit to the client and generally is not engaging.

Copywriting is such a broad skill. I can write awesome press releases (10+ years in the media!), but when it comes to sales copy, I truly suck.

I'd like someone to re-write it. They don't need to start from scratch as all of the text is actually in there. It just needs to be re-written and tarted up.

600 words per page x 2 = 1200 words to be edited. I don't pay by the hour so request someone who does fixed price jobs.

Here is the snag though. I've hired many bad copywriters in the past. So, rather than have everyone here send me PMs offering to re-write it, I would like you guys to recommend people.

I'd much rather go to someone myself, having had good feedback from others, rather than have people PM me and offer to write it just because they want my money!

So, via here or PM, tell me who I should use!

Look at the copywriter directory sticky in this subforum.

Find some who you believe could be a fit. Talk to them. The rate they work for may be well above what you can afford, or not.

Hey man, I don't mean to be a drag but... You're kind of shooting yourself in the foot when you say things like...

They don't need to start from scratch as all of the text is actually in there. It just needs to be re-written and tarted up.

600 words per page x 2 = 1200 words to be edited. I don't pay by the hour so request someone who does fixed price jobs.
    Here's why...

First of all you're putting a lot of unnecessary restrictions on your copywriters that will almost force them to write bad copy. You also strip them of any ability to utilize their expertise to actually help you.

Because you say you only need two pages. But how do you actually know that? If you're not good at writing sales copy maybe a good copywriter would look at your promotion and see that you need many more pages of copy. Perhaps your sales letter should be 16 pages long. But you would never know, would you? Because your process automatically eliminates any copywriters of this caliber, and is a magnet for writers who don't really know what they're doing and just want your money.

    Also...
They don't need to start from scratch as all of the text is actually in there. It just needs to be re-written and tarted up.
Again, how do you know this? In my experience anybody who has ever wanted me to just "touch up their copy" (with one exception) has usually had a sales letter that required a lot of work, and they just can't see it. And they can't see it because they're bad at writing sales copy. Because if they were any good at writing sales copy they would have a much better idea of much their letter needed to improve.

Because you said yourself that you're not good at writing sales copy. I'm willing to bet that your sales letter needs a lot more work than you realize. And if you are determined to hire someone to work with what you give them. You may be setting restrictions on your writer that makes success impossible.

For example if you were to hire me to rewrite it. And I saw that you had the wrong hook, or the wrong appeal. Or there was something fundamentally wrong with the offer. I do not have to power to fix it. Nor have you really given me the leeway to try and solve the problem.

If you want to hire a solid writer here's what I suggest.
    1) Do your due-diligence.
    2) When hiring somebody look for numbers and specific results in their testimonials
    3) See if they offer a critique service, and get a feel for their ability to actually improve your copy before you hire them. Many copywriters, if you choose to hire them after a critique, will discount the price of the critique from their rate.
    4) Be ready to pay. When it comes to copywriter you get what you pay for. If you're hiring cheap writers, expect copy that doesn't deliver.

    there's my 2 cents.

      Thanks Andy,

I will maintain that I am pretty confident I just need two pages.

It is two pages of my website, and I've been in business long enough to know that if these pages get too long, people will turn in the other direction.

I'm more than willing to pay good dollars for a good service. Anyone who knows me is well aware that I always ensure people I hire are covered for their time - and more. I'm not short of marketing dollars.

I also gave links to the pages so that, should something think my copy needs more than a 'touch up' they could see it beforehand and quote me accordingly.

      Thanks,
      Jim.

One of the services I hear great things about is Textbroker.com. They look to be pretty reasonable for unique, well written copy. They may not rework your existing copy but Andy Wilson gave you some pretty good advice above.
