I know it could be a bit better... but if any of you are experienced in copywriting and could take a quick look over my wso page and let me know what I could improve on.. it would be great!

    You've got to make your "big promise" bigger.

    As someone who does a staggering 30 press ups and 30 crunches per day... (Yes ladies... 30! And No... I'm already taken!) I was looking for whether I could do this sat down at the computer because that would be kinda cool.

    When you say you can be 5 feet from your computer I'm thinking, am I sitting on my chair or just flat on my back doing crunches right next to my computer?

    And, of course, can I do this in Starbucks without looking like any more of a tool than I do already?

    Getting a six-pack while sitting down would be simple, quick and easy.

    Exercising like normal, just in close proximity to my laptop... not so attractive.

    So which is it? And if you can do it sat down then make a big deal about it. And put that big promise in your headline and reinforce it all the way down the copy.

      You only joined this forum on January 5th 2012. You've only just got up to double digit posts. No history whatsoever of helping anyone else on this forum. And to boot, you've launched a WSO almost instantly. Finally, after launching your WSO on the 24th of January, already you're here asking for a critique of your sales copy.

      Am I to seriously believe that now, after posting up your WSO as opposed to before you did so, this is a genuine request for help with your copywriting?

      I suspect not. I think you're simply trying to get more eyeballs, attention on your WSO. You're not interested in changing anything out in the slightest. If you we're interested as you claim, you would have done this before you launched your WSO not immediately afterwards.

    Okay, the problem here is you have ZERO believability.

    I read your offer...

    ...And I'm still looking for the offer.

    This comes across as rushed and you aren't conveying ANY amount of expertise.

    For instance, I could give you 10 metabolism-burning exercises for FREE - AND offer a spectacular bonus about the very same subject.

    1) Perform body weight only exercises - interval training style (e.g. pick four exercises and do as many reps as you can in 30 seconds.)

    2) Execute muscle confusion. You have to work different muscles every day to maximize activating your metabolism.

    3) Do your workouts earlier in the morning so you body is burning fat and building lean muscle throughout the day.

    4) Work the larger muscles groups more than the small ones. For instance, performing jump squats will reveal cut abs as much, if not more than stomach exercises.

    5) You have to stretch and elongate the muscles you just used to prevent your body's natural protective mechanism to shorten around exhausted muscle tissue. For example, if you work the quads, you need to stretch the psoas (your main hip flexor) to prevent contraction and the manifestation of low back pain. INJURIES SLOW DOWN YOUR METABOLISM!

    6) Drink 16oz of water immediately after your 15-20 interval workout and continue to do so every hour for remainder of the day.

    7) It takes more calories to burn fat. Don't starve yourself. Otherwise your body STORES FAT as another protective mechanism. Remember, a calorie is just potential energy. The more energy you give your body after an exhausting workout, the harder your metabolism works to burn fat and build lean muscle. Of course, it goes without saying that nutrition HUGE. There's a right way and a wrong way to intake calories!

    8) Take every 4th day off - or do restorative-style yoga to allow your body to recuperate. After all, a healthy metabolism CAN put stress on your immune function, especially if you're prone to a lethargic lymphatic system.

    9) Take an Epson Salt bath every night to pull out toxins and waste. The skin is the largest assimilative and eliminative organ in the body. The cleaner you keep your body, the faster your metabolism can function.

    10) Lay off booze and coffee. They thicken your blood, make your heart work harder and sabotage metabolism-boosting techniques enormously.

        Humor is usually a good thing when it comes to pitching a product or idea. Of course, at times you have to be more serious and need to get your point across in a concise and effective way. But, sometimes a little joke or comical comment can help your content stand out from that done by somebody else.

          I disagree.

          You ALWAYS want to appeal to people's genuine sensibilities.

          Humor doesn't necessarily do that.

          Yes, it can make people drop their guards...

          ...But generally, it's not worth the risk

            Advising anyone to use humor in sales copy is quite simply terrible advice.

            The only exception to this is if you're already an exceptionally skilled copywriter but for anyone not very experienced at writing sales copy...

            ...without exception, leave humor out of the equation. It's a massive risk which likely you cannot afford to take. Either for yourself or on behalf of your clients.

            Question: How do you know your written sense of humor will be well received by your target audience?

            Answer: You don't.

            Is it seriously worth the risk trying to raise a cheap laugh when in doing so, introducing a written joke could actually seriously hurt your conversion rate to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars?

            Is this a price, a risk worth taking? All for quick laugh. I think not.

            Humor in sales copy like oil and water don't mix well together.

            • I agree humor has to be used very carefully.

              A - listers like Gary Bencivenga and Jim Rutz have done it very successfully.

              It can work - and makes your pitch a touch more entertaining.

              People don't want to read a deadly serious piece. Things are difficult enough.

              The truth is - we can all live without the incredible new product or service. We survived so far.

              And do we really want to be hit with a desperately solemn spiel.

              So lighten up a little bit. Just don't over use humor it or you'll lose all credibility.

              One way to do it - is when you talk about the "flaw" in your stuff.

              Remember if it sounds too good to be true - it usually is.

              So use some humor in the "thing" you can't do.

              Usually a dash of self deprecation works wonders - you become "real" and nobody wants to constantly read about over inflated ego's.

              A great example is on a Gary Bencivenga piece (I think it was for his 100 seminar course).

              It went something like this "I can't even balance a check book my wife has to do all that" - but the rest of the pitch proved beyond any doubt that his course is a absolute "must have"

              Humor providing it's not nasty, sexist, racist or a written joke (which people may not "get") can make a huge difference.

                Here's the formula to humor.
                Humor = Incorrect Pre-supposition / Correct Pre-supposition

                In simpler terms... A wrong pre-supposition that causes almost a surprise.

                It is essentially turning a common interpretation into something else completely unexpected. It trips off a part of your brain, sending you roaring with laughter.

                Sadly, not many copywriters are capable of utilizing humor to coax prospects into a sale - because it's a risk. Persuasion is a risk, and charming someone is probably also a risk. Your future customers come from different cultures and their sense of humor can differ - often a lot.

                That's the reason why many copywriters choose to use more universal emotions - aggression... agitation... fear... envy... hope... Notice that they're more negative than positive.

                It's propagated by media almost everywhere, and it's almost identical. You read about car accidents and bankruptcies everywhere. Fires, floods, earthquakes, losses.

                It's the same in copy. You don't have the time to condition or pre-sell anyone most of the time. You have to make do with what your prospects have, and convince them into a buying decision as soon as you can. "I'll buy later" simply means that you've lost the close in a sale.

                In salesmanship, there is great point in building a certain rapport with humor. Unfortunately, you can't afford that without non-verbal language. It cuts the joke down most of the time when it's written on paper.

                Final advice: Don't try it. Not unless you're that good yet.

    Thanks guys for your input... It really is appreciated.

    And mark... you can view my thread however you like. I AM a bit ambitious... over eager and yes... I did rush it. But I've always been better at learning from my mistakes. One method I adapted from a fitness boot camp mentor of mine was something he said to me when I first started training.. "Get the damn thing started then improve as you go along. If you over think it before hand you'll run yourself in the ground." It was my first attempt at launching ANYTHING... so I went for it.

    I'm glad all your time is spend analyzing dates and investigating. I've just never been much on the Sherlock Holmes approach.

    So it is what it is... and I'll take the two USEFUL comments that were provided to me on this thread and use it to improve my next attempt.

    Thanks again guys... I don't take criticism for granted. I'll definitely use these tips in future ventures.
