    Don't worry about length.

How many words should a spoken sales pitch be?

    That many.

There are no fixed number of words you must write.

"Think small" That one was just two words.

Think Small was an advertising campaign for the Volkswagen Beetle, created by Julian Koenig at the Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB) agency in the 1950s. It was ranked as the best advertising campaign of the twentieth century by Ad Age, in a survey of North American advertisements. The campaign has been considered so successful that it "did much more than boost sales and build a lifetime of brand loyalty. The ad, and the work of the ad agency behind it, changed the very nature of advertising—from the way it's created to what you see as a consumer today."-Wikipedia

Some experts say copy length depends on the product. For example, Bob Bly says the more money the product costs, the more copy it usually needs to sell.

But it really boils down to getting your message across to your target audience. If you can do that in 250 words, that's great. If it takes more, then it takes more. There are no set guidelines.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, I'd also like to mention that many sales pages I've encountered come across as immensely long-winded, with seemingly pages and pages of copy. Which inevitably gets overlooked when the viewer just adopts the tl;dr mindframe, and either skips to the end or just leaves the page entirely.

Ideally, I think you should be aiming for 'short and sweet', but as mentioned, some products do require more copy. My advice would be then to just do what you need to, and no more than that. Don't labour points, just get them across clearly and compellingly.
