Pretty awesome wisdom from the late, great Gary Halbert. Figured I would share it, it has some great reminders for us marketers...

The Gary Halbert Letter

And my favorite nugget (this really changed me)...

"Gun-to-the-head-thinking" can get you out of a jam or tough time. If someone had a gun to your head, and to save your life you had to craft the best message you could, what would you say?

And this one... "Fail fast. Drop losing projects immediately."

What is your favorite?

2 "Pearls of Wisdom" I've grown fond of are...

...his sons Bond and Kevin Halbert.

Not what you were after? Tough titty said the kitty.

    Haw!

The Gary Halbert Letter is one of those oh so rare websites you never tire of reading - especially the 2nd, 3rd or 40th time.

It's been my selfish pleasure to spend lots of time in the last year or two talking to Bond and Kevin all about our favorite GH stories, etc.

Their old man was one of a kind for sure.

      I'll 2nd that Brian.

Whats great about The Gary Halbert Letter is not only the amazing copywriting and marketing information.

The way that Gary really studied human psychology ,what emotional triggers people go through and what actually makes them buy.

I think it's great that Bond and Kevin are keeping the Halbert name going.

"Shift attention from how much can you make to how many people can you help" and "Greedy people lead lives that suck!". I like these two because it appeals to the passion for doing something good and enjoying it, not the passion for full pockets. I know people with more than enough money but with an empty life. Passion fills it. And money will come.

    Great read, as always!

The 10k hours one is my favorite.

"10,000 hours… that’s how long it takes to become really good at something. That’s 2,000 hours per year for five years. It can take doctors and other professionals twice that long (10 years), and most self-made millionaires take four times that long (that’s right, 20 years is the average time it takes for self-made millionaires to achieve "overnight" success). You can’t invest a few hours in something and expect to become an expert. There are many self-proclaimed "pseudo-gurus" who emerge after one or two successes and claim expert status. Experts hone their chops over time. What’s your expertise? Hone it, refine it and continuously improve it."
