not getting very great results?

I'm following the copywriting formula and advice that I learned after listening to Eben Pagan's Print Persuasion Master Class audio series in my WSO.

However I don't seem to be getting any conversions, and I don't know why.

Could someone, ANYONE, identify what I'm doing wrong in this letter? --> WSO Product

Thank you kindly,

    Hi Dexx,

I don't think the problem is with your copy, there are a lot of things I would do differently, but it's not bad... I think the problem is the product itself.

No one NEEDS to organize their files. It may help, it may make them more productive, but no one desperately needs it.

Take me for example, I've got copywriting courses, swipe files, videos, books, reports, scripts... tons of stuff on my computer, organized into files and folders, and I don't think I waste any time when I'm looking for stuff.

A huge part of selling anything is solving a problem with your product, and I don't see a huge problem here.

I'm not trying to discourage you. I haven't tried it, it could be fantastic software, but I don't see a market for it.

You might try lowering the price a little bit and seeing if that helps. I'm guessing there are a lot of people that this software could help, but the problem isn't big enough to warrant the $37 price tag.

Just my .02, hope that helps.

Hrmmm that's a good point about the NEED to organize, I guess I just figured "who wouldnt want to organize their files better" but your right about it being one thing to benefit from being more organized, its another to pay $37 for it.

I'll try lowering the price down to $17 and see how much of a difference that makes, and then maybe trying $27 afterwards if sales increase significantly

    Thanks for the response!

    Any other feedback?

Dexx, just a couple quick things....

I watched some of the YouTube video and would advise putting it much higher up on the page, almost at top and much more prominently labeled as well.

Still, there's an odd incongruity between the purpose of the product (organize and simply file info) and the very long dense copy. It makes me think whatever the product is it must be complicated to warrant so much copy. (also in the WSO's most products don't have such long descriptions).

I read some of the copy and could not tell you specifically what the product actually did. BUT, when I watched the video it became pretty clear. ...and thats the other problem, at least to me.

The product for instance, has you making some notes of each files contents which to me equals = LOTS OF WORK. I could accomplish the same thing just by renaming the files in windows with longer description - I do this now.

I actually question that additional notes the product provides space for will be of any value anyway. I'm probably still going to have to re-read the 100 page ebook to get the specific info I need. ..just seeing notes like, "covers adsense" isn't going to help, since it can be in the TITLE anyway.

So, I guess I'm more in Scott's camp as well, but I wanted to investigate it before I agreed. I know this is not encouraging either, but it's what I experienced. Good Luck.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the response!

I actually considered just having the video on the page with the benefits, testimonials, guarantee, and order button.

But I thought if I followed a traditional "Sales Copy Formula" I'd have better results.

Stuff like going over frustrations, my personal story, why you need it etc.

Do you think I should just eliminate that stuff and go back to that first original idea to keep it simple?

In regards to the notes section, I actually use it to write down the key strategies of a product in full, for example if I was reading something on the blueprint to making money with Squidoo lenses, I might actually write out a paragraph of what steps needed to be done so that I didnt have to go searching through the book again for it.

More of a nice to have, though the notes are still only one feature of details you can use to organize your files.

I'll move the video up to the top right now!

I was going to say something similar to Scott.

    I don't think it's all the product's fault though, more your appeal/offer/positioning.

No one wants to really organize, but what about magically making more time (or eliminating the effort) to 'glean the gold' from all those $47.00 e-books they bought?

I think everyone has e-books & stuff gathering virtual dust that they would like to read but can't find the time (i.e. prefer to watch reality shows). So you need to make the appeal that, finally they can read all their e-books quick & easy - and reap the rewards.

    That's what I reckon anyway.

It's like planning and goal setting - totally unsexy - but the rewards...

    Hey Dexx,

Without reading in detail what your page says I do have a couple of tips.

1 Your headline may be too long. You need a shorter more eye catching phrase
that really stands out. I like to thing if I were flipping through the pages of a magazine would my head line make me stop, make me flip back a few pages to catch what I just saw a glimps of.

2 Break up your copy a bit more. People are lazy when it comes to what they read unless they already have a huge appetite to consume particular info. If thier interest is not totally captivated and they see long paragraphs they are likely to flip to the next page. Using long copy is great as long as you can keep them reading and using the shortest paragraphs possible to get your idea across will help.

3 the parts where you say "You know what I realized though?" and "It was at this point that the experienced entrepreneurs in the marketing forums went crazy!" this is great but you need more of this. You want statements like this all through you copy. The real idea is that you want people to read your bold lines like this and while they do they can see the next one coming up
and they should tell your story on thier own.
This way if someone is just skimming your copy you are going to get your message through to them. Make them short but interesting.

    4. More calls to action. You should give your prospects several opportunities
to cut to the chase and grab your offer. You can put more buttons or even just a link to allow them to "Order Right Now" or continues reading.

I just scanned your copy quickly and these few things jumped out at me. Hope this helps, Philip

Dexx, it's really simple... you're not selling anything anyone wants to buy.

You could hire John Carlton for $60,000 to write copy for fish flavored icecream and it's not going to convert... period.

Ya that seems to be the sad reality of the situation...

Not necessarily. If the app does indeed help people become more organised and hence more efficient and effective then there's a value there and it should be able to be sold for a price. IMHO the problem is in the appeal/positioning. Most traffic on the WF is not looking for "how to be more organised" or "make powerful notes", rather look at "how to make more money online" etc... If you can get them closer to their goals, provide enough proof, they'll be begging you for it if you don't offer it to them! Alternatively, you could be targeting the wrong group of people. Consider other groups that might have a desperate need for better file management.

Channel the mass desire (to quote Eugene Schwartz) and you'll be a lot closer to the money.

Scott's right. Here's my solution. If you listened to Eben then you know how him and Craig are taking the headlines to a new level. How about this...

"If your files and info products are left unorganized, then you will most likely suffer from information overload - A major drawback that will cripple your productivity and ultimately... the growth of your business!"

Let me show you how my brand new software can organize your files in minutes, allowing you access them with ease while helping you retain all the information 75% better.

That's just something I made up... wordsmith it till a reader gets a response of "oh shit... maybe he's right... I SHOULD organize my crap because I can't seem to be getting anything done"

The "Could It Be Possible..." head line... I've found only works when your traffic is targeted and eagerly seeking a solution. What you have is a WSO... you need to INFORM these people as to why its a good idea to organize their shit, and how you'll help them do just that.

That's all I can really pick at.

    Cheers.

    Dexx,
I am posting this here, because I am not able to post yet in the WSO forum. I actually found your offer there first, and did a search of your name, because I thought that something might be fishy because no one had bought this since you posted it on 2/19.

When I read the subject line I laughed, because it said "Eliminate the Nightmare of Information overload, Don't Buy another..." I thought it was going to be an offer to buy an ebook, telling me that I buy too many ebooks. lol I clicked on it anyway.

When I read what it was, I got pretty excited. I had JUST finished writing on my "to-do list" that I have GOT to get my information that I have been downloading more organized. Some of the things that you have put into your software are exactly the kinds of things that I need.

That said, I am buying your WSO. My one purchase may not be that big of deal, since it seems that a lot of folks here doubt its appeal, but I would love the chance to give it a test drive.

After I try it out, I will let you know what I think, and make suggestions if they are warranted. Hope that will help a little!

    Thank you for this WSO!

If it's your own product how about making it more specialised? You can rinse and repeat too...

For example software for, I dunno, vets or something. Find what kind of data they regularly deal with (ask one!) and tweak it so it is specifically vet data organizing or something like that? Maybe not vets but you get the idea

Heck, webmasters? 'They' deal with lots of files n stuff, right?

I haven't even looked at your software yet because there's another big obstacle that puts me off such things. Anything that messes with Windows doesn't get on my PC.

My computers are my business and I'm not willing to compromise my operating system via a 3rd party add-on that might break tomorrow when Windows does an auto update.

If your product is totally independent of Windows, say so loud an clear, cos when I hear "folders" I think "Operating System".

Sheesh, I had a look at your copy. WAY too wordy. Not just length but the length of sentences, the reading level, too much bolding...

It's an unreadable mess, to be honest.

Oh wow B, blunt and to the point, thank you!

I'll re-work the paragraphs to be more to the point and shorter with less bolding cluttering it up.

In regards to your comment on the 3rd party windows add-on, I'm not sure what you mean, but the software is it's own application and would not be connecting to or messing with anything involving an operating system... hope that helps

    and thank you once again!

Any more feedback on the sales page or product?

      Just to add my .02

Maybe I'm missing something but it seems that your not targeting the correct person with this product.

There will be people who are very organized with the folder/file structures and there will be those that aren't.

The latter is your target and like the comments made above don't focus on information overload...focus on the time that is lost and reinforce that with a time is money theme.

      *also*

I use a MAC and OSX has a feature where you can right click on a file and get that files description including any notes you've made. I'm not sure if Vista has this function but if it does why would people pay for it?

    Thanks for the response Kev!

Question, are you able to search your mac for keywords / items contained in the notes you made? Or do you have to manually look at each file to see the notes on it?

For instance if you wanted to quickly find all files that contained information on 'X strategy'

What about exporting all those notes in customizable data columns into various formats (like XML which could be uploaded to the web and turned into an RSS feed or SQL database for online searching of notes) etc.

That's some of the stuff it does as well, as well the recording of individual notes!

Maybe someone already mentioned this but....

Did you create the product around a demand?

    Or

Did you create a product that YOU would like and others may not need?

John Carelton could write perfect copy for selling hamburgers but if you put the ad in veggie times no one would buy it.

To me your headline is Waaaay to wordy and loses me from the start.

Why not start with: "Are you fed up with crippling your productivity while sifting through piles of info.....

Just a thought for a starter

75% is a general term why not try 77% unless the data is exact.

        Dexx,
I must say I am having problems with this software. First, it loads and saves VERY SLOWLY. Then I noticed that ever since I downloaded it, my MS Word is not responding properly, it is also slow to respond, (cut & paste, save, etc.) Now I find that I am (so far) unable to uninstall. I have tried with the built in uninstaller, and have also tried from the control panel in windows, and I can't get it to uninstall. It is saying the installer is not correctly installed.

Can you help out? I need to get this off my computer.

That's very odd indeed, I've built multiple programs of similar design but different uses and installed and uninstalled without any problems.

The fact that it loading and saving slowly especially odd, haven't experienced that on any of my machines.

Teresa can you let me know where Operating System you are using?

Has then been occurring the entire time you've been using the software, or just recently?

    Any errors messages?

Also, if other programs are being affected I can with 99.9% guarantee it isnt my software, but have you tried running a spyware / antivirus program on your machine (not due to my software, but just because those problems sound like something is messing with your machine)

Let me know those answer, and a refund is always available upon request regardless!

      Dexx,

I answered this earlier in my email to you, but will respond to it here also.

My operating system is Windows xp.

I maintain it scrupulously, with spyware/antivirus scans on a very regular basis. I also do regular scans and cleans of my registry.

The very first time your software loaded up, it was very, very slow. I noted it, but as it was late at night, I just shut it down and didn't pursue it.

The next day, I was working in MS Word, and was having a lot of trouble with it being very slow. I was basically only cutting, pasting, saving.

Then a little later, I opened your software again. Again, very, very slow. I entered ONE record into the program and clicked "save." It took about 30 seconds to save.

I became impatient, closed the program, and went on to some other tasks. A few hours later, I was again working in Word. Same problems, only worse. Whenever I would try to save a doc, my whole system would just bog down.

That's when I decided that I would just remove your program.

First I tried the uninstaller within the program. An error message within the software told me that the uninstall failed because the uninstaller was not installed correctly.

Then I tried to remove it through the add/remove programs function of the control panel. Wouldn't work.

I went back to your software, and clicked on the option that was a reinstall to correct errors. That gave me the same error as my attempt to uninstall.

I tried to remove it through C Cleaner. Still no luck. I finally had to do a system restore on my computer to a date before I downloaded your software. It is now off my computer, and everything is acting normally.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this thing just had some sort of serious flaw in it.

      I wish you the best.
