How to make outsourcing sexy?

I've just gotten off the phone with a potential client from an outsourcing company. Basically the company handles HR hiring and legwork to find overseas employees in the Phillipines for all types of services (personal assistant, web design, programming, graphics etc.).

The client is looking to make a video and wants to do something interesting and outside the box (instead of the typical B2B "the world is changing" with a blue globe or some crap).

Anyway I was looking to get any ideas that you guys would have for something like this.

Some points:

1) The USP is the amount of money you will save from hiring and firing employees (some estimates are $10,000 for the time it takes to retrain an employee etc.), as well as the flexibility of people working on your schedule and no office space requirements.

2) A concept to work around is the business owner sitting on the beach drinking a margarita (or whatever it is they drink at resorts, I'm not a big drinker) talking about how he switched to VCW Outsourcers and is now living the high life - as you can imagine very over the top and exaggerated.

HOWEVER

do not limit yourself to just that one concept, if you have any other ideas or anything that comes to mind please feel free to share (if I get this deal... and we end up using your concept, I will let you know and give full credit as well).

What's the issue on everyone's minds when it comes to outsourcing? Tackle that.

  • I'd avoid the idea of the business owner sitting around on the beach, drinking. If you're a business owner, is that what you really want? Do you want to just leave your company in the hands of others?

No, I don't think so. Offer them something more realistic - don't try to stretch their beliefs. Play within the confines of them. Offer them a more realistic dream - offer them more relaxed evenings, shorter hours at the office.

Offer them less stress (due to lighter workloads, someone helping them tackle the work), more time (which means basically...more time to make MORE money!), etc.

You get the idea. If I was a business owner, I wouldn't want someone offering me a day at the beach - I'd want someone offering me a service that would lighten my load, and automate the process better.

Also, the beach is a cliche - not something you want to sell yourself on.

Do some research - find out if 'outside the box' is really where you want to go. I know it pays to be original, but as the famous saying goes...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Find out what SELLS this service, what people REALLY respond to, and hone in on that. Find out your prospect's deepest desires and needs, and build something on that.

    My two cents.

Outsourcing does allow a way for the business owner to focus on skilled tasks that make more money by farming out the grunt work. It also allows businesses to take on larger projects than might otherwise be possible, or perhaps allow the owner more free time for family, better health by staying in shape, etc. - there are lots of benefits to it. It's unlikely the owner is going to be lounging around on the beach, though - they'll probably be busier than ever, but making more money than ever.

Outsourced workers do require training and supervision, so it's not all roses, especially if there is turnover.

I've done a lot of outsourcing in the past, and it can be a blessing or a massive headache. Reliability of subcontractors (along with testimonials) is a definite selling point.

humm.. no offence, but if you offer these services to your client and can't even come up with creative and original ideas - hire a creative director (or outsource him/her).

I have several good ideas for you but I will not share them for various reasons.

I make outsourcing sexy by putting something skimpy on while I do it...

    or not...

    Definitely not...

No one wants to see that including myself.
