    1) You'll never be broke. 2) You're just one sales letter away from a million dollars. 3) You can do it from anywhere in the world.

Why do I feel like I'm in grade school again . Your copy does your selling for you, plain and simple. If that fact alone is not reason enough to value it, then perhaps you aren't quite ready for this business. Sorry.

Just like third grade 3-5 sentences .

I resent that, I merely chose to respond with sarcasm . Not being negative at all, realistic really.

I asked myself this same question recently.

It was about 10 and we were lounging on the couch. Out of the corner of my eye I watched on tenterhooks as Lady Gaga tried once again to scratch out a
          grocery list by herself.

Then, two minutes later: BANG! And I'll be damned if it didn't happen again ... another hit song.

It was then I realized she's the only person I know who makes more money than I do with fewer words.

          So there's that.

If you found a slot machine that kept spitting out money, would you use it?

Or just let it gather up cobwebs in the corner?

P.S. Copywriting IS that slot machine...

    Well, it's not great.

I mean, if you could "ask" for money, and it
    falls into your lap...

Or, more realistically, increase the chance of
money coming into your lap when asking...

Well, it's going to be pretty damn good.

Copy matters to buyers because it is what explains and defines your product or service to potential customers so they can make a decision between whether or not to buy it. Copy matters to sellers because their customer's buying decision is made based on whether or not they want what you have to offer. In short, both your potential customer's buying decision and whether or not you make money off those decisions hinges on copy.

    Good question.

Gary Halbert's "Coat of Arms" letter 600 million mailed, many, many millions of dollars collected. Agora, Rodale, Boardroom, Philips... collectively hundreds of millions in revenue a year. Ted Nicholas, billions in revenue over a lifetime of direct response. Joe Sugarman, 20 million pairs of BluBlocker sunglasses sold. All done on the back of direct response copy. Dan " I don't roll outta bed for less than $100,000 per letter" Kennedy. Enough "worth" for ya?

    A simple reason why is...

Every business has to market itself or its products or services. That demands communication with its prospects. Which in turn calls for copywriting.

It is important because at the end of the day it is salesmanship..... in print or on radio, Tv, online etc.

I know that once you learn copywriting you never stop learning. So there is no easy answer. But I need to know, or really really want to know, how long does it take to get proficient?

I'm not looking for an answer here to hold it against you, nor am I looking for something specific. But in general, if you try to apply the craft, how long? 6 months? A year? 2 years?

I've been eyeing Ray Edwards' mentor class hence I wonder, is this a good investment? I have Dan Kennedy's book, Caples, Sugarman, Bly so far.
