I'd be interested to here an answer to this as well mate I'm just finishing off the sales letter for a new service of mine so I could do with a logo/header creator like what you suggested. I write copy for a living but haven't got an ounce of graphic designer skills!

There's a few Warriors selling pre-formatted graphic headlines, Max Rylski's are among the best:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...tes-tools.html

If you want to do them from scratch in Photoshop, you don't need any plugins, most of the effects are created by messing around with the various "Layer Styles" options.

There is a lot in max's set for the price - it's definitely worth keeping on hand for the occasional quick time-saver.

I would be all for paying for that kind of graphics package and I have seen several places that sell stuff like this. Shop first here on the Warrior Forum.

I have also messed with stuff in Photoshop. No, I am not a Photoshop guy, but I am also not afraid of getting my computer dirty so sometimes I just jump right in.

If you want to generate that kind of stuff yourself, I would suggest you ask yourself if it the best use of your time, or if it would be better to do something else and pay for the graphics.

If you decide to jump right in, I would highly suggest searching for tutorials on YouTube. There are some very amazing things you can learn if you look hard enough.

    Just my two cents...

Myriad Pro is brilliant font...been my favourite-all-around font for years, especially "light"....but bold does the trick too...then some playing with spacings...yum

FREE Paint.net is superior to all except but Adobe.

Step 1: Download it for free.

Step 2: Now download a bunch of extra plugins for shadows, reflections, fire, and other stuff. And download some more free fonts off free pages. Get all the usual styles and the hokey ones too, like medieval, western, samurai, etc.

Step 3: Go on Youtube and search for paint.net and watch a few videos on how to create graphics and you will be there in no time.

I've done this and improved my graphical skills greatly. Just the act of experimenting with the different tools is going to teach you a great deal. I can even recognize the effects used; dropshadows under the text, white outlining around the parents and babies, there are 2 gradients used on the "Add To Cart" button-vertical colors(white and clear) and horizontal colors(red and blue), and a very slight reflection effect used under the baby shoes.

Now I just need to learn how to organize and write my copy and I'll be "there"!

lol.... @battle beta... you are smoking crack.

its superior to MS paint and thats about it.

don't use that piece of crap.

NO ONE makes good stuff with crap tools.

Actually I've found DTP software to be more useful for text heavy design because it emphasizes typography elements and generally you can work much faster with it.

The industry standard is again Adobe with InDesign, but there's also a decent open source alternative called Scribus.

Actually about 8 minutes with Photoshop. Thanks Dave, I didn't know the font face.

ETA: Need to move the 3rd row down a little and stretch the Photoshop a little more to fully hang the closing quotation but what the hell, you get the idea.

Bruce.... you never... ever... "stretch" text.

photoshop should self-destruct if you do so. :-)

Yeah I know, Dave. Your point is well taken. I'm sure Mr. Subtle had a heart attack too, but for quick & dirty...

let me tell you a secret...

We did a clickbank launch last year and we split tested a couple different letters and a couple different formats.

First, we hired a very good copywriter and then had a graphics guy do all the typical hype stuff you see on CB to format the letter.

Next, I wrote a letter for the product and stuck it in a plain Jane template with minimal graphics.

My version won by a full point...

Another test... we ran banner ads, both had the exact same offer text, one in black and white, the other all tricked out w/ graphics... You guessed it, black and white won by a full point.

Graphics don't sell, good offers do.

    good selling,

    don

What a lot of marketers don't realize is that DIFFERENT sells.

Whatever causes your message to stand out and get attention
then you'll see more sales. If everyone else is using fancy
graphics then the "plain Jane" gets atention because it stands
      out against the "fancy" background.

The same think applies to video sales letters--they stood
      out against the text letters.

So the lesson here is not that X works and Y doesn't work
but try answer the question, "What can I do so that my
message stands out from the crowd?" and you're in
      business.

It's the same reason why an UGLY sales letter would
wins over the polished one. It's the reason why we
bold, underline, highlight etc., --attention comes to
      the purple cow.

I think I saw a WF member selling a wordpress plugin that can be used to generate these graphics really fast..... I still can't post links but do a google search with the following operators:

site:warriorforum . com "create stunning converting graphic headlines without leaving wordpress"

Remove the spaces between the domain and the dot com.

Let me tell you another secret.

Don.... designing to convert is very different than making fancy hype graphics.

Almost any designer can make stuff look good, doesn't mean its gonna work.

Good offer with graphics designed to increase conversions will outdo a plain page almost every single time.

In almost very test I've run my designs destroyed "plain jane" stuff.

Just depends who's doing the designing :-)

Dave, hasn't been my experience, and we've hired some of the best and tested a lot... not to mention looking at stats for the 300+ products I've done the copy for. Yes, conversion is key in all we do, and if you've had better tests then that's fricken awesome!

Are your tests in the IM market? Mine are and that could be a factor being it's the most jaded and skeptical one around. I'd be interested in seeing results from others if that's the case.

And the graphics I'm referring to are identical to the most popular ones you see running today in the heads and sub heads. I still believe just by experience that an kick ass offer trumps everything

    Nice perspective, thanks,

    d

Don... yup totally agree... a kick ass offer is the #1 biggest key, beyond a shadow of a doubt... but when you combine that with a slick design that enhances the copy... i've seen big differences in numbers.

one of my teachers once told me you can't polish a turd.

I dont do the IM stuff.... i'm in niche markets (big verticals)

there's much more to it than copying the headline/subhead style you see out there.... everyhing's gotta work together to enhance the copy/offer.

look at these new drawing whiteboard videos.

same thing. great offers... just text.... they add the visuals and bam. increase in conversions.
