Secrets of Closing Sales by Charles B Roth

Have you ever heard of this book from 1940 called Secrets of Closing Sales by Charles B Roth?

I was able to track down a 2nd Edition copy from 1947.

This is a book that Frank Bettger recommends at the end of How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling.

It's a really interesting book that talks about the fear that takes over the prospect's mind when the buying decision begins to take place.

The prospect's personality literally changes and they need reassurance.

The book goes into ways to dissolve the fear in your prospect's mind about pricing, whether her they're getting ripped off, etc, all at the time of purchase.

I've gotten some excellent copy ideas from it so far.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up about this book, but I don't think it will be easy for you to track down an early edition... And apparently the later editions are watered down.

    I hate it when they fiddle about with things.

    I don't mind terminology being updated but when they introduce things that the author obviously didn't write is when a book goes wrong. Guess you are of the same opinion.

    Was just looking on Amazon after reading your post and it says:

    'Now features the newest selling tactics, latest products, new customer relationship, critical path selling, group selling, teleconferencing, conceptual selling, consultative selling, key account selling etc etc'

    ie It is not the same book at all. Just riding off the tailcoats of someone who knew what humans were about.

    Rant over.

      Yep, it's pretty annoying

      They say John Caples' Tested Advertising Methods got watered down after the 4th edition too.

      Same thing happened with Lazy Man's Way to Riches come to think of it.
