Most Important Difference Between "Article" Style Sales Copy & "Sales Letter" Style Copy?

Dear Warrior,

What, do you think, are the most important differences in STRUCTURE between an straight-on sales letter and a "news article" styled letter?

(I ask b/c apparently "article" style beats "straight-on" style hands down... (b/c people have less tolerance than EVER for being obviously "sold to".))

Like... are the benefits introduced as early in an article-style promotion?

Headlines for article-style ads would be more "newsy". Like:

"3 hidden memory destroying triggers no one told you about" (newsy)

Versus:
"Brilliant new formula improves your memory in 30 days or less" (salesy)

Here's the "article" style ad: Advanced Memory Formula: Reduce memory loss and senior moments

For the "straight ahead" style ad, pick almost any WSO, I think ... here's one:

Thanks for your thoughts,

Hmm... Thought this was an interesting and helpful question. Maybe it's just the slow summer months. Have a good'n all.

      Here's an idea for ya...

Research the framework of winning advertorials, write an info-product on the subject, and market it to copywriters.

The copywriting forum is always slow these days, don't really know why...

In the IM niche perhaps, where beginners are pelted often with "straight up" sales copy (usually this is their own doing, subscribing to everything and reading as many WSO threads as humanly possible). The world as a whole (both online and offline)? I'd disagree with this statement.

One key difference I notice in my own experience is the difference in delivery.

Sales letter style copy is usually less-formal and closer to an actual "real-life" conversation (you, your, I, etc). Article style copy is more passive and/or is more general (he,she, they,it) -- yet effective in touching on emotional buttons.

I like the newsy Article style copy than the sales-letters. It informs the reader and it gives out facts which readers find informative and will increase their curiosity. And Sale-letters are sometimes annoying and I find it lazy to read it.
