My Email Copy writing skills suck... but...

So as the title says, my Email copy writing skills are the suck...

BUT, I've learned a thing or 2 about getting great open rates, and CTR's in my emails.

Yet, I've seen open rates of 70%+ in my autoresponders, and broadcasts, and even 20%+ CTR's (which is considered excellent in the noise of crap emails out there).

So without further delay, here are some tips you can apply in your next email campaign to get some pretty decent open rates and CTR's!

Here is the post in it's entire glory & a Quote For Your Thoughts:

7 Tips to Increase Your Email Campaign CTR

1. Be Specific On Your Key Message

When reading an ad, 60% of people only read the headline! Does your headline include the absolute key message of your email? This can gain or lose your reader entirely, based on how well it supports your overall email. The more consistent you are with your key messages, the higher your open-rate and click-through-rate will be.

2. Personalize Who It’s “From” To Establish a Relationship

Personalizing your own account is incredibly important. Getting an email from ‘bob_123214@xbizdeals.com’ will certainly lower your trust in the legitimacy of the sender. Instead, ‘bob.dylan@acompany.com’ will encourage you to open it just a bit more. So spend the time, and personalize your email just a bit, even include a signature with your contact information.

3. Include their “Name” and “Email” using Mail Merge

Personalizing your email can easily increase your CTR. Would you really open up a message if it was directed towards ‘recipeint #123′? It’s easy to set up a Mail Merge to include the name of the recipient in the body. This makes the reader feel as if the email was written specifically for them. Better yet, include their name 3 times, for increased relationship building.

4. Balance Out Your Email Content To Maintain Engagement

For every promotional email, there should be 2-3 free content emails, containing articles, events, videos, webinars, etc. If your list responsiveness is dropping, ask yourself, “how often am I sending promotional emails pushing for a sell?” Gradually, if you push too much for sales, then your list will lose interest, and loyalty. Instead, keep track of your click-through metrics to determine which readers spend the most amount of time with your emails, and which ones share often.

5. High Quality Content is King

The old saying, “quality over quantity” is incredibly important with email marketing. Providing high quality content will establish your brands status as the insightful source of information. One method of quality content, is providing information that can be used by the reader immediately. You can provide tips for your niche, a quote, or a video. Quality information will be passed along between friends and colleagues, if done right.

6. Ask Your Readers And Listen To Them

As much as you would like to think you know your readers, why not ask them? This information is absolutely invaluable! You can do this by asking them on your next email, conducting a survey (incentivized or not), or even monitoring your brand on social media. Study what they like, and dislike, and they will more than likely remain loyal to you.

7. Monitor Your Metrics, and Optimize Your Message

Testing absolutely everything is key to a successful, high conversion campaign. Most email providers allow you to test how your email will look in different browsers. As well, you should test all of your links. Also, test your images, because these can easily get different click-through-rates

There is no one particular formula for a successful campaign, but instead, email marketing allows for flexibility and optimization. Make sure to learn at absolutely every step of the way, and the results will come naturally.

    Thanks for your tips.

Re: No.4. I definitely agree with that. I like to see some valuable content in the emails I receive from time to time.

There's a marketer who only emails me offers from The Warrior Forum. No content, no advice, no tips, nothing. Just WSO's every single time.

I'm thinking of opting out of his list.

    Update: Scratch that, I'm out.

I've also found various IM's whom get you to join their list, tell you they will not spam you with offers, and end up sending 2 offers EVERY DAY.

As if simply loaded up into their limitless autoresponder, and sent...

      No names

        I might try that.

I'm starting to develop a low tolerance for low content to offer ratio emails.

But strangely enough since my last post in this thread there's been a noticeable improvement in the quality of emails I'm receiving.

It's almost like those dudes are reading this forum and have listened to the needs of their customers.

        That's freaky!

One guy even sent out a survey asking what kind of content we'd like to see in his future emails.

        Now that's what I call responsive! That's dude's smart!

        Whoever you are...

If you're reading this and you listened, then thanks a million!

And if you are but haven't then don't say we didn't warn you!

Ugh... I get another story all together.

All this from only 1 'internet marketer'.

It depends on the quality of marketers you opt-in to.

You can classify them by the quality of content and promotions they send out.

Listening to your readers/customers is a big YES. You can really come up with helpful and effective product promotion by asking your customers their feedback.

I'm on Ben Settle's email list - i agree with his style of email marketing. I don't buy into this give them a few content emails and then pitch them. ( Though i'm not saying it doesn't work)

Ben is pitching his course in every email. He provides his valuable tips/insights into email marketing, then pitches his product rite at the end of the email.

And its not really even about how many opens or click throughs you get, its the amount of sales. More opens & ctrs doesnt = more sales.

I'm also on his list and I think his stuff is good. Hey Ben! (I'm sure he's reading this)

In the last few days he's offered a link to a multi-media page full of really good audios.

The thing is he offers content in almost every email and at the end he pitches his course. That's ok.

He shares his views on certain things.

      He's got a personality.

      He shows us he's human.

His technique is good because those pieces of content are like a sample or a showcase of what you can expect if you buy his stuff.

By doing that he builds up a kind of desire for his products and triggers the reciprocity effect.

Do you think I'll buy something from him? Of course I will.

Some marketers don't offer anything except promotions.

Maybe they're not aware of these techniques, in which case I'll let them off the hook.

But some of them just pitch, pitch, pitch without trying to develop or maintain any type of dialogue.

Now, to the best of my knowledge, that's not good email marketing practice.

P.S. BTW I'm not a freebie freak. I don't expect something for nothing but I welcome it when it happens. I do buy a lot of products and get a lot of good quality products which are normally sold on the market, for free.

P.P.S In fact just a few weeks ago I joined a coaching program and received almost $XX,XXX in retail value of high quality bonuses. No Joke!

P.P.P.S. Ok, the author of the coaching program just happens to be a multi-millionaire who can afford to give away such generous bonuses but that's not the point. The point is to build a relationship with your subscribers one way or the other. As the saying goes, "It's not the size of the gift but the thought that counts".
