What do you guys think about all this "Infographic Overload" lately?

The infographics are getting out of hand lol...

And I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad.

With the weird color schemes it actually makes it kind of a strain to read many of them.

Even though they look good.

I would normally think this is a bad thing.

The more one has to scream...

...the less one has to say.

people digest visual information 60% more efficiently than the written word...

infographics are here to stay and just like copy you'll have wannabes that get it all wrong...

but there's no doubt a well-designed info graphic can convey complicated concpets very quickly - and that helps a lot in some markets...

they work best when the copy on them is good too... plus with memes like pinterest they have their place in a savvy marketers arsenal...

my 2 cents - worth at least half that

Yes, there's definitely an overload, but there's no denying it:
    1. infographics are perfect link baits
    2. like with everything else, there's the good and the ugly

I'm sure the boom will slow down once Google implements the declared anti-infographics measures.

Also, here's a great post that draws the borderline between great and flat infographics.

I've been really looking into these for use inside of some of my VSL's...

I think they'd work well if chunked out into pieces to convey complex ideas - say for a health offer talking about hormones - or an investment offer talking about trading...

Also - I think they might work well for service sales - say like for a copywriter lol trying to explain how their services can grow a business by 1. adding more new customer. 2. increasing transaction size and 3. getting them to buy over and over again...

Linkassistant, in that story, Matt Cutts opines that too many people are linking to useless infographics and that Google may soon discount these kind of links.

One wonders.... if they weren't useful, why would they attract links?

      Infographic

      No one wants to read

      No one wants to learn

      People look at websites

      for 3 reasons
      • they are bored and want to be entertained
      • they want to buy something to fill the emptiness hole
      • they want a reassurance that they are right
Infographic is an easy call to action

I have made a few of them and they do generate quite a bit of traffic. I have had moderate success with them as a designer. They have become extremely popular which is probably not a bad thing.

I would have a few made...they really bring in the traffic..speaking from exp.

dadadada makes some good points- people have low attention spans, and infographics can be satisfying to look at.
