Finding translation / foreign-language jobs

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and found your forum through Google, so bear with me.

I am a German copywriter and freelancer and have some steady clients here in Germany to write for in German. Whenever I trawl the usual sources for new jobs/clients I often come across requests for native speakers of English, French, etc. to write foreign-language copy for German companies. While my English is pretty good, I am just not a native speaker and can't apply for these jobs, which is OK by me. But it made me wonder about the "reverse" situation.

Would anyone here be able to point me to useful sources where American businesses publish "writer wanted" ads that might include foreign-language copy in German or translations from English to German? Or other ways to find copywriting work that makes use of my language skills?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

    Not many online marketers are really thinking about how they can enter non-US markets - but that will change in years ahead...

    For now you are thinking ahead of the trend

    You may try approaching product vendors directly because it is an obvious play when someone lays it out for you - but most just aren't thinking of it yet...

    Give them the idea and they might just latch on to it...

      what markets are you in? and how's it going?

      i talked to a guy who has gone into the spanish speaking markets with MMO offers and he did about $150k his first launch with zero JV's...

      he basically just adjusted his prices so they fit the local economy adn did pretty well...

      and it occurred to me over the summer as a big overlooked opportunity to tap into that big ole world out there that is rapidly growing wealthier...

      btw - 'land of the free' my ass - this is one of the least free places in the world - but it is safe & secure from the big bad boogie man

    I have used this company in my previous job, and it is a serious and well establish company.

    Else I have seen several times on some of the big freelancer sites like Odesk.com and similar, that people are hiring content writers in German.

    Clickbank is an easy way to dip your toe in selling products in other languages. Just do an advanced search in the marketplace and check the language you want.

    In the U.S., if you are not offering Spanish-language products you are missing a huge opportunity.

    You will not find so many people for german translation rather if you want english translator then it would be much easier.

    German writers and translators are mostly wanted at oDesk, my friend writes in German and gets job there regularly.

    You could create a site and try to rank it. There should be many juicy KW's like: "english to german translations", "english german translator", etc. A nice portion of that traffic will surely be willing to pay for it or will be indeed looking for a quality, paid translation service.
