I have a product that will be sold through internet marketing. With a few simple twists in the product it can either be sold to businesses or consumers.

It is bad from a copywriting perspective to try and pitch to two different target audiences in one domain but it is equally bad to split all marketing efforts into two different domains when the marketing channels and marketing messages are so similar.

What would you do?

    Target marketing means just that.

What's the product and let's see if folks here can give you some solutions.

why would it be equally bad to split your marketing efforts? too much work?? you hate money???

b2b and b2c require very different messages - you'll do much better by creating two funnels for your two different target markets...

Otherwise you'll probably not appeal strongly enough to either to convert...

Could be you are in a very unique situation where this does not apply but I wouldn't think twice about splitting out to 2 different funnels...

      totally agreed.

usually its the front office girl or a lower level employee who buys the things you're selling.

in their eyes, your solution MUST WORK. Otherwise, they'll look bad (maybe even get fired).

Whereas in WSO land, only a faction even read the report or even install the plugin.

One is about dreams. The other is about actual solutions.

Most big brands target businesses with advanced solutions and more simpler versions for consumers.

In IM something similar is done for e.g. there are marketers who sell products for individual use and then another version with resell rights or PLR rights for other marketers to resell to their customers.

Is that not B2C and B2B?

2 different markets with a slight tweak?

By testing you'll get a better idea of whether it works or doesn't. You can then decide if it's worth rolling out on a larger scale.

If you want to appeal to both audiences you're going to have to put equal efforts into creating separate marketing/copy for both, simple as that.
