(insert profession here) HATE HIM!

It seems like this is the headline on, uh, just about every big square Youtube ad nowadays.

Is this all one company running different promotions, or is this headline structure just really popular with people writing copy for youtube ads?

I also think that the hate him strategy is clever and attention grabbing.

As far as why it works, im guessing people love controversy.

It's just a really popular marketing strategy.

Just like the "Only 2 left at this price" or "Only 24 hours!"

At first, you think to yourself "who in the world honestly thinks there's only 2 left at that price" but there are people who go "Oh SH$* I better get out my credit card fast!" I'd like to think that there are two kinds of people in the world,

Wolves - People who take charge and lead the pack. These are the innovators who guide the second type of people to their destination.
Sheep - These are the people who are simple minded and easy to manipulate. They Listen to whatever you tell them and take every single word as the holy grail.

Commonly, I always see ads like "Find Out Why Dentists/Gardeners/Lawyers/Internet Marketers/Etc Hate Him!"

It's just a marketing strategy that always has and always will work on the sheep.

That one has been around for a long while - I've seen it used in financial and investment newsletters a lot. It's a curiosity-based attention grabber, making people wonder why (insert profession here) people supposedly hate this person.

@highlander11 - Marketing to the Herd Mind is a great post - and it fits right in with what Mark Pescetti was talking about in another recent thread about understanding human nature. It's the key to, well, everything in marketing.

Judging by the reactions of a lot of people around me, the “hate him” strategy really works. At first I found it strange, but when you think about it, it is easier for people to associate with each other when there is a common enemy so I guess it does it jobs really well.

I used that line to pitch my MLM opportunity to women

    Why Your Partner Hates You?

    Any critique will be appreciated.

Is it crude or right on the spot?

You may want to start a new thread asking for a critique here. I looked at your site and can see that you would get a lot of good advice from the pros on this forum.

Imagine this: 1000000's of people read those headlines. If .01% of them copy that because they recognized it caught their attention, that is another 1000 similar headlines.
