Oh geesh, I have to write copy for the first time in a long time, and times have changed so drastically Im not sure what to write?

I don't even have half of my page done. Where is a good place for me to start?

Im doing a membership site, so I really need good copy.

Thanks for any advice,
Candace
  • Candace,

honestly? It'd be easiest to hire someone. Especially if you're looking for someone to get it done well, and get it done soon (by soon, I mean in the next few weeks - if someone offers to do it in days, run.)

Otherwise, hit up the local copywriting library....ie: http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...ooks-ever.html

Check out some of the books and get learning. Also check out Gary Halbert's advice: The Gary Halbert Letter

It won't be quick, and it won't be easy, but it'll save you money on copywriters (well, depends on how you see it - copywriters are a sound investment!)

    Best of luck!

First thing, do some reading to refresh your memory on the components of a good sales letter and how they fit together (flow).

Then, find a successful membership site sales letter in your niche that you like and model it for your sales letter.

    Here's my process:

Step 1 - Write down all of the life-changing, emotionally-driven benefits that your membership offers. (This is also a great exercise to build confidence in what you do.)

Step 2 - What emotions are you appealing to (within your prospects...) and what circumstances bring those feelings to life? Write down your answers (e.g. Fear about money because there's a ceiling to how much income they can bring in on a monthly basis... and it simply isn't enough to ???)

Step 3 - Write down every aspects of your ideal customer/client. Create clarity about how much money they make, what kind of lifestyle they lead, their willingness to change or grow... you can even articulate why they're looking for your solution to really put yourself in their shoes. The more specific you are about WHO you're talking WITH, the more your copy will resonate.

Step 4 - Write down how "my solution" solves their problems, when they take action. This is also how you can reveal what people leave on the table IF they walk away. You need to always make sure you're articulating the drastic differences people will experience, so they create an attachment to the idea, which makes NOT taking action almost painful.

Step 5 - Decide how to frame your social proof in the most eloquent, brand-building way possible.

    Speaking of brand...

If you don't have one, create it FIRST.

    What's your brand name?

    What's your main marketing message?

What imagery do you want prospects to see in their mind's eye when they see your header or logo?
