Copywriters Finding Offline Success Through Online Marketing

Hey there friends,

I am sure there are a lot of you out there making a good career out of offline copywriting services to your local business community. I'm trying to reach out into my marketplace, and before I invest in any kind of direct mail, etc, I'm interested in potentially doing some local PPC campaigns in conjunction with some local SEO for my services.

I know there's a lot of old-school dirty work associated with local offline copywriting (phone calls, sales calls, direct mail, etc), but has anyone found any success in marketing their services online into a local business community?

If so, did you do this through something like AdWords? Buy local email lists of local entrepreneurs? Did you set up a landing page specifically for your offline marketing efforts?

Thanks!
Jeremey

  • Hi Jeremey,

Apart from a few clients insisting I do inter web copy (not the nightmare tech horrors) most of my stuff is offline.

I've always taken my own major highly scientific and deeply researched psychological decision.

If I want offline clients it's probably better to reach them using offline methods.

Flyers, postcards, sales letters and ads have done the job perfectly.

I'm always grateful that I haven't had to become a computer programmer to create an audience.

P.S. I did enter the wonderful world of copywriting long before the inter web was built.

And many people suggest it's fun learning all the whizz bang techniques and capers in getting a site in the top 3 on google.

Apparently if it's not in the top 3 hardly anyone will read it.

So, if you want around 5 hungry clients desperate and more than willing to pay for some delicious copy - here's a few quick and easy recipes.

Cook up 2,000 Flyers and give them out to your chosen diners - you'll be amazed at the bookings.

If you prefer something a touch more tasty try 1000 glossy postcards - clients will be even more eager to feast with you.

For a gourmet meal a sales letter sent by FedEx definitely fills up the client VIP table.
