Ancestry.com email subject line, lol

Really? all CAPS? Most newbz can write a more compelling subject line than that. The horror!

In case the pic doesn't load for you, the subject reads like this:

EXCLUSIVE OFFER FROM ANCESTRY.COM

    They may be testing caps vs. initial caps, or any number of other internal factors to which we're not privy. The companies I work with want to test this kind of thing all the time - using + vs. plus, addressing people by name or not, whether adding in a smiley face/triangle/arrow symbol will affect the open rate.

    Granted the trend I see is more toward people opening based on the From line instead of the subject. People might overlook that subject altogether if they're fans of Ancestry.com. Or they may open it because it contains an offer. Only the data will tell.

    or as they would insist, test - "pedantic as ever"

    Some might say, if you really offer something wonderfully sensational - you don't need to test as much.

    Because you're way too busy rolling out the campaign and fulfilling the multitudes of orders.

      LOL definitely agreed. My clients are risk-averse and don't really like trying out new campaigns despite my insistence. I like to believe I'm wearing them down slowly as their open rates improve. We've edged them up from about 8-9% open rate to about 18-21% so far. Fingers crossed for further improvement.
